    Manny to tampa?

No it looks like the dodgers may be after Dunn...

Manny is running out of places to go. Can you see him in tampa... I know they would have to break open the bank and I dont think they would be willing... but with no suitors they could say here is 2 years 35-40 million and ad a bat to that lineup that to me... puts them right back on top...

It's certainly an interesting possibility, and they do have an opening at DH.

They had a great year, but 1: I don't think they can afford his crazy requests and 2:He might actually WANT to play there, since it is close to home, and he may decide that he can relax even more now that he is nearer to home

Very misleading title to the thread. People are going to think Manny is actually going to Tampa.
My runs created per 27 posts (RC/27p) was 12.4 last year. I should've been MVP.

I think they should seek an alternative. Maybe even Hafner or something.

I think Tampa actually mentioned that it was specifically a right handed DH/corner OF power bat they were looking for...so Manny fits that

    Let's see here.

Travis Hafner, age 31. OPS+ in 2007 of 118, OPS+ in 2008 of 65 in an injury-shortened year. Is guaranteed $51.75 million through 2012. Getting him would also require giving up players.

Manny Ramirez, age 36, OPS+ in 2007 of 126, OPS+ in 2008 of 164. Would likely command a yearly salary of $20-25 million for 2-3 years. Getting him would require giving up just money.

I don't know why I bothered doing that, when I could've just simply said, "No way."

Well i was thinkin Tampa because... well he could stick it to the Sox all the time and even to the yanks a little

plus they would worship the ground he walks on down there... AND he would draw big crowds.. and with a big year, next year they may have him chasing 600 the next year so even if they are not in it... they have that

Or they could just resign the younger and cheaper Rocco Baldelli. Sure he is an injury risk, but he is cool.

That's how a team with playoff aspirations should make their decisions.."Is he cool?"

I hadn't thought about this before, but Manny Ramirez really is a perfect fit for Tampa Bay, assuming they have the cash.

Tampa isn't going to pay someone 20+ million dollars a year. People seem to forget that they are one of the smallest markets in the game

Yes, he is perfect, but I will keep hopes up that he stays in the National League! He probably is a great choice, but I don't want him there

agreed... but I dont know... it realld does make way more sense thatn it ever could... I mean think of the attendence boost... it would bee like them adding a no name guy and paying 5-10 million... u dont think manny would help draw... look he went to LA and attendance went up substantialy.. it also would help legitimize them by saying... "We have a weekness and we are going to fix it." yes it would be a big hit payroll wise but they have major guys locked up long term so its not like he is going to make it so they cant resign their guys.. and if manny put up big #'s and he was a drain on $$$ they could trade him next year... like someone woudnt take him with 1-2 years left on a deal of he puts up .300+ 35+ 120 RBI... they would jump at it... naimly the Mets
