+ Charlie Weis. He hasn't lit the world on fire, and he is going to make a ton of money because of a good first season.

Mainly because everyone want to underrate and dump on Belicheck - who should be in the converation for Coach of the year.

But Mangini is a fine coach, nothing great mind you, but he's guided this team to about what its capabilities were in each of his 3 years. Only delusional fans and hypoerbolic media thought the Jets were real contenters with Brett Favre - better than a team that started Kellen Clemens 8 times the year before sure - but not a serious contender.

Mangini's firing was brought on by unrealistic expectations, from the acquiring of brett favre, but not by Brett Favre himself - who pretty much gave the team what anyone rational person would have expected from a 40 year old Favre.

ESPN reported that Cower would not consider the Jets job unless Farve was gone? Way to manage your legacy.
I'm sticking with the coach killer charge.

+1 to me for telling people that Farve wasn't worth all the drama before the season started. Go away Brett Farve. Go away.
My runs created per 27 posts (RC/27p) was 12.4 last year. I should've been MVP.

I am not placing the blame on him at all... but I dont wnat him back... at all... we can get the same from our backup.

We sucked because of playcalling and poor game management...

It seamed like Man"Gina" was always tring to do something other than what the team was built for. They abandon the run WAY to often. I believe it was KC that we played agains who had given up 200+ rushing yards 3-4 games in a row... and what do we do... throw... nonstop throw... we at that point had the leading russher in the AFC... and we have Leon Washington... I mean COME ON!!! In a game later in teh season...)49'rs maybe) washington gets the ball 1 time and runs for 47 yards in the 1st or 2nd quarter) never comes near the ball again.

We have a power back, and an EXPLOSIVE back... why not use the 2 back set??? i am FAR from a coach and dont understand all the points of football but the play calling was attrocious. Farve needs not be blamed for everything but I can think of 3 occasions where he threw the ball for a pic that noone was within 10 yards of it and im not talking about BOMBS. Constantly overthrowing and underthrowing balls in the 2nd 1/2 of the season. EVERYONE is to play a part in this collaps except the RB's in my opinion.

The defense gave up and stopped, stoppig the run, That Jenkins even admitted a week or so ago he stopped playing 100% and slacked off a little. The fact that we had to go sigh Ty Law was a joke. 3-4 years from now we will be in sallary cap hell... we lose a draft pick this year... when we need all we can get DESPERATLY. Man"Gina" and his staff all have to go except the special teams coach... he stays. I want a corner and a QB this off season... and if either Brett or Man"Gina" are back next year... don't expect me to watch.
You wouldn't want him back? Who can you replace him with? You aren't guaranteed a free agent and if you look at all of the quarterbacks in the league he ranks in the middle of the pack probably 14 or 15 in terms of production/reliability/experience/etc. I'll take that over a Kellen Clemens or somebody worse. Kellen Clemens has hardly played in his time with NY and Favre can still get it done. You want to get rid of him for somebody worse? Eww.

Who are you going to replace him with? He is better than half the starters in the league.

please point me in the direction of stats that verify this statement...i'd have him somewhere in the 19th-22nd range if ranking this year's qbs

Well, now we have Thomas Jones speaking out about not really being too enthused about a potential return of Favre next year (and rumblings he is merely the head of a long line of players with similar feelings). And now the Jets get to deal with the 5 month "Will he come back or not?" narcissistic drama that is a Favre offseason...enjoy that.

It was at least as much unrealistic expectations brought on by being 8-3 and beating Tennessee.

If they'd lost the Titans game, and also had dropped the overtime game against New England the week before nobody would have been surprised by those two losses and the team would have been 6-5. If they then closed the season going 3-2, wrapping up with the same situation that did happen: a playoff possibility that slipped away in part because of results in the rest of the league in week 17... 9-7, just miss the playoffs, Mangini doesn't only not get fired be might get an extension.

Well, they did have Chad Pennington..but all the Jets fans hated him. You simply will never win with a QB who makes as many wild throws and has so many turnovers like Favre. He was great in his prime...he's not close to that now. Time to move on. An average QB can be found rather easily.

as a Jet fan I never hated him... It was just the injuries constantly... which were not his fauly... not liek "OMG I have a bloster" kind of stuff... I mean he brike his wrist 2 times... thats just plain bad luck. I honestly think with him on the team we would have been in the playoffs this year but its hard to tell.

Keep in mind with Favre... the DB's have to stay just a little farther back to defend against the deep pass... which opens up the running game a little more. I mean HE is responsible for a little better running game as well. Also... just because Pennington doesnt have great arm strength doesn mean NEVER throw the long ball... I mean yu have to get teh DB's back at some point. I honestly think the Jets did not use Chad properly.

For 1 its not fair to him... we never had d defense this good when he played...plus he was very good at controling the tempo of the game as well... Slow it down... eat up the clock. Who do we get tho... I know everyone keeps saying get cassel... but the Pats will franchise him before that happens... the have the cap room I believe. Plus its not known if Brady will be back in time to start the season. Who else is out tere... I know we have Clemens but its not like he is the next Manning... I say try and dump him on a nobodt team if u can.. even if its a 5th round pick who cares... unfortunatly see if we can trade some of this talent we have.. not taht its a TON... but eat the next 2-3 years... bring in Cowart (if you can dump Brett) or Shanahan. I do NOT want another "new" head coach. the Jets have had I think 14 Head coaches... 11 were 1st timers... god damnit bring someone in who knows what there are doing. Id rather see the team suck for 3-4 years and know that the ownership trusts the Coach to build the team back up like the pats did, like the colts did... even better... I want an owner that trusts the HEad coach like the Titans owner trusted Fischer...
