But regardless, in the NFL you can't play Monday morning QB...you have to go for it and I would never knock this kind of move.

Despite what many claim, I think the Packers are the ones that SHOULD be regretting things. I do think Farve would have made them a better team if not a playoff team. I realize they had to see this year if Rodgers was worth re-signing in this upcoming offseason though, and really had more pressure to do the move at the time....but although rodgers looks OK, farve would have given them more this year and IMO rodgers doesn't look like anything they couldn't have found this or next offseason through the draft or FA.
I disagree. The Jets recent woes have come in part because Brett's doing his usual thing, throwing unbelievably stupid passes which get picked off. The Packers have had no running game this year, and their defense couldn't stop me from putting up 100 yards on the ground...neither of those is Rodgers' fault. Besides, I don't see how holding on to a 39 year old who spent the whole offseason prior to the trade whining about how it should basically be 'all about him' is particularly going to help the team.

Statistically Rodgers is better then Favre this year. Like Arctic said Brett is being Brett and the Jets are paying for it. I think the Packers made the right move.

The Packers D is one of the worst in the league on stopping the run. In no way is the 5-10 Packers rodgers fault.

I didn't see the Jets winning 8 games without Brett so if they win 9 with him they improved. But it was more the New York and East Coast press that put so much pressure on the Jets to win now and made them look like an amazing team. And after they beat Tennessee and everyone was ready to crown them champs I think even more pressure got on the team.

If the team misses (looking likely) I don't think it's a horrible signing in terms of the team...but the media will look at it that way because they thought the signing would bring a ring to the Jets organization.

I'm in NE, and I heard none of the media 'realistically' expecting Farve to bring a ring after the deal. After the teams good start, those expectations did go bout, but after the deal nobody thought that. Also, the team is in much better position today, despite what farve has done of late, then they were expected to be with Rodgers.

I'll post more on this tomorrow..i'm late for a party and wifey is bitching.

NFL Live and the New York Post did a huge raving "Jets: AFC East Contenders" after the signing and after Brady went down ho boy did those expectations rise to Super Bowl Contenders.

The way I look at it is unless getting Favre was going to make you immediate Super Bowl contenders acquiring him doesn't make sense. You bring in a vet like that if he looks to be the one missing piece from a title contender.

Does anyone else find it laughable that the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason?

    Hahaaa.

Anyways back on topic I agree with you Arctic. The Jets, to me, looked like a 7 win team with Pennington so I don't know why everyone jumped on the Jets bandwagon when Favre got on. But it's New York and he's Brett Favre.

I guess the big winner was Miami. I just think for that high of a profile signing not even making the playoffs would have to be considered a failure of a season.

Im not sure why it would be a bad signing -- the Jets are getting, if anything, about the best case scenario Brett Favre.

The only thing is the Fans and Media who dodn;t look at any of the actual wins the Jets have had --

The got Miami, with a new coaching staff,QBs 1st game in the system in week one - they got home wins vs Zona, Oakland, KC, Cincinnati, St Louis and a free falling Buffalo.

They had One good win at Tenn and one okay Win vs a beat up NE team in OT.

If anyone expected more than 9-10 wins out of the team at the beginning of the Year they were delusional.

Just a question, I'm pretty decent with football but say the Pats and Dolphins both win wouldn't it be a tie and the season series is 1-1 between them so how would it work, would Miami make the playoffs or the Pats? If so, how?

Miami would win due to a better conference record I believe.

    THAT is hilarious!

Just more proof of how 'meaningful' preseason results are.

Kudos on that one. I believe the Jets were 4-12 last year, so its a good improvement. A lot of "experts" are sayin that Brett injured his arm earlier this year as he is under throwing a lot of receivers which in turn makes their long game ineffective. I can buy that as I have seen it on their games. You know Brett with that streak he wont sit out because of that.

This is a drama, a twisted one. Brett Favre pushes Pennington out of Jets starting QB job, Pennington moves to Miami.

First game, Brett Favre connects with a long TD and wins the game. Pennington isn't too happy.

Now look at it now, Miami Dolphins 10-5 and NewYork Jets 9-6. Miami ahead one game, Pennington having a good season. Favre just got raped in Seattle which is nothing to be proud about. This one game can change the playoff scenario for both teams. Pennington vs. Favre.

    What a story

Only problem with that is that in the seattle game he was overthrowing a lot of receivers as well

The issue is people aren't willing to admit that maybe it was last year that was the fluke, not this year. God knows you won't hear that being uttered on espn
