If the games sections were moved from the basement, I'm sure more people would appropriately post their threads in that section

More importantly, though:

I'm totally in favor of folks having a place where they can talk about politics, religion, or how fat your mom is (apparently, she's so fat that she has smaller fat moms orbiting around her).

This is modelled a bit after Something Awful's "Comedy Gas Chamber" -- where they move all the least funny threads -- but some of these threads turn out to be pretty darn interesting and funny.

So, this forum is a garbage heap for all the threads that don't belong somewhere else. But at the same time, it's also a good place to start a new thread that doesn't fit anywhere else.

You guys asked for Ejections to be broken up some, and Dee agreed to do that (heck, I did as well). In my view, that was to separate the "politics, religion" portions from "or how fat your mom is"... which is what I've been operating under, personally.

I'm all in favor of everyone else making these decisions on what goes where, just come to a solid consensus on what goes where. Until that happens, it's pretty much completely up to HGM and I individually.

The games section is 2 pg downs for me. I mean, I'll check the basement every now and then, but I definitely will go days between seeing new posts & threads in the games section

I'm still sticking with what I had originally suggested, which brought about the addition of OiLF. From Another call for a new sub-forum of Ejections:

I'd like to once again suggest that a new "Ejections" forum be created. There are many legitimate on-topic threads in the current Ejections forums - music, news, politics, books, etc....but also a lot of meaningless threads, which are fine, but I think that the whole idea of "Anything goes here" leads to people derailing threads with actual purposes and good discussion.

The separate forum would be for all the "silly" threads, and derailing threads in the "topical" forum would result in the posts being deleted (or moved to the other forum).

Every poster on that thread simply posted a quick "Agreed." post with that original proposition. Even in the post I'm about to quote from that thread, you indicated basically the same thing as I suggested, which differs from the way you've been handling threads, in my opinion:

A "junk drawer" is just easier to deal with then actually trying to implement some rule. Ejections was more or less intended to be the "junk drawer", but there's a lot of interest in politics and other interests and Ejections is really the only place for it... so, this is a good idea.

"Politics and other interests" = Ejections. "Junk" = OILF.

And, honestly, to me, it does seem as though the consensus among posters agrees with this.

By "basement", I presume he means the bottom of the main index.

As for the fantasy baseball threads, there's a few fantasy baseball threads in sports talk, so that's where I've kept them (and moved others that I've seen). Personally, I'd be fine myself with eliminating Sports Games all together and moving all the threads from there into the Sports Talk forum, as I think it's fine to lump them all together, especially considering the relatively little traffic Sports Games seems to receive, the relatively few "Sports Games" threads there are to begin with, and it's relatively hidden spot at the very bottom of the forum list.

Do you (or anybody) disagree with the "layout" I quoted from my original suggestion above? Ejections is for all topical, reasonable discussions, regarding anything from news to politics to movies to music to real life advice, etc. while OILF is for post padding, games, nonsense, etc.

Well, personally, I kind of like Ejections and OiLF the way that they are. I'd think that would be obvious, since I moved a bunch of threads over the last couple of weeks so that it's the way that it currently is.

But... the fact is that I don't really care one way or another. It's that simple, really. If it's important enough to you and metsguy234 to complain about it here, that's enough of a reason to change it to the way that you'd like it for me. I think that what you're proposing is more confusing then the way that it currently is, but I can get used to it. The only real problem that I see is that some of the threads that end up being moved to the proposed restructured OiLF, where the original poster really cares about the subject, is going to cause some vociferous complaints.

I really don't care that much...it's just that, like I said, my original suggestion wasn't the way it is now. To me, I think it's more confusing the way it currently is, especially given the names/descriptions of the forums.

Ejections is News/Politics, OILF is everything else? I think OILF being pointless, post-padding, and the like, with Ejections being everything that a reasonable discussion can be had on, is simpler, to me at least. As I said, I thought (and my original intent behind suggesting it) that OILF was meant for the junk threads that were originally bogging down the Ejections forum, which I don't think consisted of everything non-news/politics related.
