If you were an NFL GM in Detroit...

What would aim for in the NFL Draft. I think its a safe bet they will have the #1 overall pick.

QB, they kinda sorta need someone, like Lecroy, or Bradford, or Tebow

A team this bad would have many holes. I would try to trade down for a couple of firsts and work on the offensive line, because I think they are the most important group on a team as well as cheaper and a safe bet.

Either side of the trenches, probably OL(Maybe this Andre Smith from 'Bama). No use having a good QB if he is going to be lying on his back all the time.

EDIT: Or as ragecage said, trade down, get multiple picks.

No use having an OL if he has no one to protect though

But seriously, I'd start with either a playmaker like Tebow, or OL. OL is the most important part of building a football team. A good OL can make a bad QB decent, a decent QB good, and a good QB spectacular. In addition, a great OL with a great coaching staff can make ANY running back a star.

They could draft QB 1st, and an OL 2nd

I wouldn't be against drafting Tebow, but no way in the first round. More like 3rd or 4th. No one has been very high on him, but he does have potential.

Draft OL and get Tebow in like the 5th round.

its funny, but I would love to be the new GM of Detroit, no expectations, and ownership would probably have the understanding of stripping the team down and starting from scratch.

Yeah, if Matt Millen lasted that long, the leash is going to be pretty long.

I don't think this draft class has that clearcut franchise QB. And I don't think getting constantly pounded, especially when you play teams like the Vikings and Bears twice a season, is going to help any QB's development anyway. Maybe if Sam Bradford enters the draft... but I don't think that would be good either for him or for a team with 14, 15 or 16 losses, which is where Detroit will finish the season.

I think the way to go would be to take Oher (that guy is a STUD), or to trade down in an attempt to grab 2 top OLs in the first round. Take a flyer in a later round on a guy like Curtis Painter or Pat White, or pick up Tebow in the late first round (they do have 2 picks) or in the second round if he falls that far. And he probably will, possibly further.
