He was and is crappy, and you're probably right that Robertson won't be any better.

Connor Robertson will not be in the Mets bullpen. The Mets have no chance at winning anything next year if he is in our bullpen.

There is no one player bad enough to completely destroy a team's chances of winning. And if there was, it certainly wouldn't be a middle reliever.

It's more than just the innings. It's the way lefty specialists are used, primarily throwing to one or two batters at a time. ERA is very flawed for relievers. The biggest flaw is that doesn't account for inherited runners that they let score. The stat Fair Run Average does. Schoeneweis's FRA was 4.93 last year.

This was a simple, inconsequential salary dump. It doesn't improve the Mets. It doesn't make them worse. You're overreacting.

Scott has putt up a career ERA of 4.91 in 934 innings, Last year had a 5.03 ERA, in 06 had a 4.88 ERA, 04 a 5.59 ERA. Now, do you still think he is key to the Mets?

Robertson pitched a lot better than that 5 ERA in AAA. Not that he's gonna challenge K-Rod.

Wow. This is a huge, huge exaggeration. Schoeneweis was NOT worth "a few wins". The best set-up men are worth "a few wins."

You're exactly right in your evaluation of Robertson. He's not likely to be anything at all. His upside is an average middle reliever.

You're completely off on your evaluation of Schoeneweis, and thus, this trade, though.

Who says everyone will perform the same this year? David Wright will likely be better, and K-Rod and Putz will make MUCH more of an impact then Scott.

Plus, they also picked up relievers Rocky Cherry and Darren O'Day in the Rule 5 draft. They also have Bobby Parnell, Jon Niese, Brian Stokes, Carlos Muniz, Eddie Kunz...etc. etc. etc.
