    I what counts better ? Mussina had an extremely good year good year 132 ERA+, 1.22WHIP, 5:1 K:BB, 6.8 K/9.

If Sabathia pitches the same way he has the last 3 years he will be better than Mussina was last year (though not by leaps and Bounds)

So while the Best Case will put him well ahead of what Mussina did last year, the worst case will put him far behind what Mussina did last year.

    Lets settle this right now....

Best case scenario he goes 35-0 with 0 walks, 260 IP and 2340 K's
Worst case scenario he pulls a pavano

*shrug* thats best and worse get over it

10:14am: Tim Brown and Gordon Edes of Yahoo report that the deal is for $161MM over seven years (which would top Johan's average annual value).

The deal has an opt-out clause after the first three years, which are worth $69MM. The 31 year-old Sabathia will make his opt-out decision after the 2011 season with four years, $92MM remaining on the deal. He would have to buck the opt-out trend (or renegotiate) to make this more than a three-year, $69MM deal for the Yankees. That is not necessarily a bad thing for them.
i thik it could be GREAT for him if he stays vry good the next 3 years... i see an optout and another 6 year deal

And that's what any reasonable projection should expect.

So while the Best Case will put him well ahead of what Mussina did last year, the worst case will put him far behind what Mussina did last year.
Okay, yes, of course, obviously. The worst case scenario with any player will always be terrible, but I'm talking purely in reasonable projections here. While I may have overstated it, there's simply no reason to expect Sabathia to be worse than Mussina was, and it's still inaccurate to say that the BEST CASE scenario is Mussina's 2008, considering Sabathia's surpassed that in each of the last 3 seasons.

I forgot about CC's hitting ability. Another reason this deal is too bad; less CC homers this year. Oh well.

I thought you might have been, which is why I trimmed down it down to just a 'no.''.

I think he'll do fine. I also think the Red Sox are about to offer up their own little suprise in a few days by Signing Texiera.

That'd make no sense at all on their part.

    Youk at 1st
    Ortiz at DH
    Drew in RF
    Lowell at 3B

    They'd stick someone in LF?

Who knows how Lowell will return from his injury...plus, they'd likely also then look to trade Lowell. You also have to factor in that Drew, Ortiz, and Lowell are all likely to miss some time to injury at some point during the year.

They would unfortunately likely end up trading Lowell and moving Youk to 3rd base. However, I am against signing Texiera, as we have Lars Anderson, who we better not trade, because he rivals Matt Weiters as one of the best.

I hate this, CC Sabathia, the person who I thought actually cared about where he plays, how it fits his family, wasn't about the money, took the highest offer from the Yanks. I hate this, my favorite player on the brewers go to the yankees, and now we have to listen to all these fans saying how there team is going to win the world series. CC Sabathia doesn't make a team, he's not worth 160 million, he's not even worth 100 million. Sabathia had 2 good seasons. 1 of which was in the NL. Sabathia from 01-05 never had a ERA better then 3.6, and the other 3 were above 4 ERA. His whip near 1.3. Sabathia the person who I thought doesn't care about the money, I was wrong about him. And now, Sabathia, your just like every other player who leaves for the money, and I say a **** you to you and hope you have a terrible season in New York.

To answer your question as to why Houston, it just seems like whoever signs a big contract and goes to New York doesnt work out. I think a big portion is the media, they put so much pressure on those players, I dont see how Rivera and Jeter do what they do in that environment.
