Pitchers are easily the highest paid position, if you want to include them in the discussion. If not, I'd guess first base simply because they're usually older and thus more likely to have already hit free agency (or gotten signed to a free agency-like deal, ala Pujols).
Yeah Pitchers make the most amount of money pretty easily, but I just assumed we're talking about position players. I don't actually know what the average closer makes because they seem to come and go every few years but I wonder how much the average 'established' closer makes.

Adrian Beltre and Mike Lowell make some good money as well and I would like to include Miguel Cabrera but not sure since he played first base last year.

But yeah I would imagine 1B makes some good money as well. Although they take a big hit in the salary department because Richie Sexson was let go :P

Dont forget Eric Chavez makes 10 mil a season...*sigh* third baseman are up there for sure. I would think the cheapest would be RF.

    Chipper- definitely top-level third baseman
    A-Rod- definitely top-level third baseman
    Wright- definitely top-level third baseman
    Ramirez- definitely top-level third baseman
    Longoria- definitely top-level third baseman
Troy Glaus though? This isn't 2002, HGM ... If you really needed one more name for your list... how about Mike Lowell, Ryan Zimmerman, even a Joe Crede maybe... but Troy Glaus?

Burriss? He has an awesome glove, a bit of speed, can hit for a little average, and no power, and I do not believe he walks very much

No, I would say either 2B or catcher. The league is not in its best shjape catching wise. But 2b is definately one of the lower ones

May not be anymore with two 2B MVPs in recent years and a few others who have the ability to get one i.e. Chase Utley

I suggest you actually take a look at the performance of those players, because Troy Glaus outperformed each guy you listed there.
