    Braves giving up to much?

Javier Vazquez headed to the Braves

I believe they giving up to much for a aging pitcher. He will eat some innings but also will give up some runs

    Vazquez to Braves

Lillibridge, Jo-Jo Reyes, Boone Logan, and another top prospect

Re: Braves giving up to much?

Boone Logan is going TO the Braves.

It's Vazquez and Logan to the Braves for Brent Lillibridge, Tyler Flowers (big time bat....questionable to stay as a catcher..which would hurt his prospect status) and a young pitcher which is NOT Jo-Jo Reyes. Probably Charlie Morton

Yeah..that seems like a good deal for the ChiSox....when Vazquez is on he's damn good..but is he really going to be able to put it all together at this point if he hasn't done it by now?? He'll be a good pitcher for Atlanta probably....nothing great though.

Pitchers park may help a little bit.

Apparently it is not Reyes to the Sox but Flowers & BTW Logan goes to the Braves.....not from them.

Looking at what he does & what the Padres supposedly want for Peavy it seems a "fair" deal - all depends on whether the Braves are REAL contenders for the NL pennant or not in 09

Vazquez seems like the kind of guy who can benefit greatly from the national league / smaller market. I'd pencil him in for a big year.

Re: Braves giving up to much?

I'm hearing different reports now. Rosenthal is saying Lillibridge, Flowers, and a young SP (not Reyes) to the ChiSox...but I have a KC source that knows a Braves source that is saying it is Lillibridge and Reyes and another prospect that is NOW Tyler Flowers.

I'll trust the Rosenthal version for now...but interesting that it isn't that clear yet...guess we'll have to wait for the official announcement before we all make our final and permanent and 100% accurate decisions about this trade.

    Looks like:

The AJC's Dave O'Brien reports that the White Sox will get Tyler Flowers, Brent Lillibridge, Jon Gilmore and Santos Rodriguez from the Braves for Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan.

I personally think the Braves should have just committed to rebuilding as I don't see a move like this being what puts them into the playoffs. I think they're too far out of the wild card picture to make these moves & get rid of prospects, but that's just me.

They want two new pitchers this year though. And the Peavy deal was dead. But unfortunately this deal sucks badly
