Re: The Story of the Israel Baseball League

Lightning win first game in IBL history

Ayal Berkovitz follows through on the first homerun in IBL history

The first game in the history of the Israel Baseball League had it's share of offense, as the Lightning beat the Tigers 7-4.

The Lightning got the scoring started early, when Ayal Berkovitz hit the first IBL homerun in the top of the first inning. Then in top of the second inning, with the score still 1-0 Lightning, Rodney Frazier blew the game open with the first grand slam in IBL play.

Lightning starter John "J-Dawg" Monahan hit a wall in the bottom of the third, however. He'd been cruising up until the bottom of the third, but he started that inning by allowing four doubles in a row and then a single, for a total of five consecutive hits, for four runs. He got out of by getting Netanya right fielder Connor McCrury to ground into a double play to end the inning, but the damage had already been done.

The Lightning tacked on two more runs via Berkovitz and Emory singles in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to 7-4, which would prove to stand as the final score.

    Firsts:

Out: Phil Dicker (By Colin Doan)
Hit: Ayal Berkovitz (Home run off Colin Doan)
Homerun: Ayal Berkovitz (Off Colin Doan)
RBI: Ayal Berkovitz (Himself by Colin Doan)
Run: Ayal Berkovitz (Himself by Colin Doan)
Strikeout: Colin Doan (Of Michael Oeltze)
Stolen Base: Troy Gilbert (Off Colin Doan-Shannon Shannon)
Hit By Pitch: Michael Oeltze (By Colin Doan)
Relief Appearance: Leon Budihas (Relieving Colin Doan)
    Win: John Monahan
    Loss: Colin Doan
    Save: Gauher Benques

Just wondering, where does Ahmad Oz stand (on the Tigers), he's a SP, but what spot on the roster? Minors? Or what number in the rotation, just wondering.

Here's the file, but I believe there are un-recapped games.

Also, all the games were scheduled at the same time (since all the games are in the same time zone), so I did the dice roll thing to decide which game would be "the first".

Sweet! Yonatan Caspi was traded on the first day of the season! Looks like role players are in high demand in Modi'in!

I also have a question for Mark Cuban:

It's been a goal of your's to have the IBL compete with the Majors. However, in a country that has 300 million fewer people, is this a realistic goal, or are you just jerking off? Also, with plans to expand next year, how many teams do you think a country of 7 million people can support?

That's not really in my hands, even if I went into commish mode and put him in the majors, if the parent club doesn't want him in the majors it'll just demote him immediately after I leave commish mode. And I'd rather not make anymore changes to sign-up players. Sorry.

I don't want to make changes to signup players at this point.

I'll have to check that out, thanks for the heads up.

Well, who says we have to stay within the boundaries of Israel? Major League baseball has teams in Canada and have talked of putting a team in Northern Mexico/Southern America. We could certainly entertain the possibility of a team(s) in Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, or hell, maybe even Greece. But you'll just have to keep reading to see what happens .

Re: The Story of the Israel Baseball League

There seems to be a problem with the file when I sim up to next season where it can't replicate a schedule like the one it made for this season again. I am still going to be continuing this, but I'm gonna take a couple days to see what my options are and make a decision.

I may have to set up a more conventional league, something where the schedule template doesn't have to be incredibly doctored for the schedule to work. So the possibility exists that the league may have to expand to 12 or 16 or however many teams I need to make it work on a 140 game schedule much more quickly than I anticipated. If I'm forced to do that, it would probably occur aside from the storyline.
