    *Official trade thread*

With all the recent threads on maintaining a fair and challenging game i decided (with the help of binglebop) to make a thread for trades in our individual dynasties.

If you want to join in on this little experiment just post the trade you would like to propose to the AI and we'll accept or deny it here. Theres no steadfast rules just a sounding board for those that want to make trading a little more challenging. If anyone has suggestions to make or would like to otherwise expand this idea feel free to discuss.

That's a great idea. I think there should be a third member (*hint*Hint*) and the three vote on the trade. Dynasties wouldn't have to propose trades of course, but they could get a little badge of honor from us saying that they use our system.

lol, this turning into a fraternity?

As of now anyone can put forth their opinion on trades, but if we get alot of bickering or certain ppl constantly chiming in with an obvious lack of baseball knowledge diluting our pool of expertise we can nominate trade moderators and such.

    Trade proposal

    Guess ill kick things off.

I cant afford my current #3 starter as he is a FA to be and need to get a prospect in here still under arbitration that can replace him. I want a young guy from the yanks and here is the scenario:

Yankees are 16-10, 2nd in the AL east, 0.5 games back of Boston. They failed to make the playoffs the last 2 yrs and NY fans are getting restless. I want 25 yr old rookieSP Jeff Marquez (80/83)- my scouting is +/- 3. He is currently on yanks DL and out for 73 days. Hes made 3 starts for ny this year and his ERA is 4.91 in 22 inn.

Im offering another SP 28 yr oldSteven White (79/82) in return, plus a RP prospect Rod Peterson (61/84) as a kicker. White has made just 1 start for me and didnt do well as he allowed 5 runs in 4 inn. White played for the yanks last year and has a career ERA of just over 6 with only 54 inn pitched in his short career so hes a bit of an unknown with a small sample to work with but hasnt shown alot so far. He does have a friend in NY since hes played almost his whole career there. Financial side is just about even. The yankess #4 and #5 starters a rated (77/79, 78/79) respectively and the latter is 37 yrs old so white could end up starting for them. Marquez is about even and hes out for 2.5 months so it looks like a decent deal for both sides. What do ya'll think tho? I want honest opinions and will abide by the forums decision.

Im the Royals and have 3 of my best guys coming up for FA and may not be able to sign 2 of them cause i have a low budget. I did win the WS last year (improbable come from 3-0 to bosox to get there, i dont cheat either- i use manager mode in PBP) im off to a slow start this year (started off 0-5) with my players not performing as well as they did in my miraculous championship run last year when almost all of my players overachieved. I have managed to win 8 out of my last 10 and currently at 17-12, tied with cleveland for 1st in a competitive central.

I'd recommend that people post the .mog with their trades, so we can seek further info as needed.

A 28 Y/O starter with 6+ ERA in 54 innings isn't the type of player I'd go for. He's a AAAA type guy. The prospect is likely to be an average reliever. It's not a bad trade, but if I was the Yankees I'd like to get more if I traded Marquez and I'd be looking for a better replacement for my injured starter.

But if you make the trade I don't think you'll be scorned too badly.

Nah, i was thinking the same from the Yanks standpoint. I dont tthink they'll get much for marquez tho- im on the fence about it myself.

I'd prefer to have Maruez, personally, but it's not like the Yanks are getting robbed or anything though

So if you were the yanks would you rather have marquez out for 2.5 months or white that can pitch now plus a decent prospect? Thats basically the ends and outs of this proposed trade- you say yay or nay? Or do you think i should offer more or rework the trade altogether? If i have to ill offer more if the forum doesnt think the yanks would bite.

Again, In terms of talent, I think it is close.

But without the .mog it's hard to say.

You're making the trade because you need a cheap alternative at starter, and have three players eligible for free agency. We don't know about the Yankees. They have those types of concerns too. What young pitchers do they have in the system to replace Marquez, etc...

2 questions. First, How'd you get White OFF the Yankees? IRL if the Yankees traded him once, they probably don't want to trade for him again. Especially not if they are paying more than they received. Second, why don't YOU use White as your starter, his contract status would appear to be similar to Marquez'?
