Have you visited the Baseball Hall of Fame?

Speaking of the Hall of Fame, have you been there? I haven't.

I'm thinking of doing it for a short vacation at some point in the future, though.

I have, and it's great. Doubleday field was great too!

I've been to the Hockey Hall, which was cool. Football and Baseball ones are definitely on my 'to do' list.

It's really a cool museum but theres little if anything to do around the cooperstown area. A real baseball fan can easily spend a full day going through the museum. After that....good luck. If you're a skier and go in the winter, you may find enjoyment elsewhere as I believe there is good skiing close by.

FYI...one of the coolest parts is the championship ring exhibit. Wait till you see the size of the Marlins ring!! They also have the top 10 HR's of all time near by the ring exhibit. Thats cool as he!!....no matter how many times you watch it, the Joe Carter HR gives goosebumps.

For the mid 30's crowd, cool exhibit for minor league sensation Max Patkin aka The Crown Prince of Baseball, and other maskots. The stadiums of the game is great too. Also....if you go in the summer as I did and have young children there are outstanding picture opportunities outside on the museum grounds. Statues of Koufax pitching and Campi catching. Got a great picture of my son trying to take the ball out of Campi's glove.

I picked up some old logo hats for the Red Sox, the gift shop seemed to have every one ever used. As was said, if your not a baseball fan, theres not a lot to offer in Cooperstown so go with like minded people.
Nice side story, when they remodeled a few years ago they found a photo and letter stuffed between two display cases. The photo was an old black and white of a minor league ball player. The note was from his son saying he was always a hall of famer to him. So they put it back somewhere between two cases, out of sight just as it had been.
They are not saying who it was or where it is. I though that was very cool of them.

Yea, I've always heard that the actual staff at Cooperstown are a real class act. I read a book about the history of it a while back, and there are tons of stories in the same vein as that one.

I've been twice. I went with my dad about 30 years ago, and I went again with a cousin in July of this year. I meant to go to the basketball HOF in Springfield MA, but missed it. Next year for that one.

When I was 10 or 11, and living in Atlanta, my mom and I took a two week trip up through D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia; Up to Cooperstown, Niagara Falls; over to Detroit and down through Cincinnati. Still my favorite trip that I've been on.

Recently, my girlfriend and I moved up to Syracuse; where we will be for a year (she is doing an internship here). The second day we were here, I bought a membership to the Hall of Fame. I went twice in September, and if things go as planned, will be there for Rickey Henderson's (my favorite player) enshrinement next summer.

My dream trip....or as my wife calls it my dream mid-life crisis trip....which could only happen in Sept and is based totally on a dream schedule for my teams, is to start on a Sunday and see a Bengals game in Ohio, Then the Football HOF, then to NY and see a Yankees game, the Baseball HOF, end in Chicago on a Sunday at Soldier field.

I went up there in August of last year and highly recommend it. There may not be that much non-baseball stuff right there in Cooperstown itself but there's plenty of stuff in the general vicinity. I stayed in Albany since I have friends there and it was an easy drive from there to Cooperstown. Also spent a day at the horsetrack in Saratoga, and another day we drove down to NYC for a game at Yankee Stadium. Would like to do it again sometime.

I'd love to go to the HOF.. My wife is saying we'll go sometime.. With her discounted flights, it'll be easier.. *lol*

We've been to the Hockey HOF a few times, seeing it's about 2 hours away..

I'd even like to go to the Canadian Baseball HOF..
