    Coco Crisp to Kansas City

It sounds like Crisp is on his way to the Kansas City Royals for Ramon Ramirez.

Nice, even trade. Benefits both teams, but I think the Red Sox got the slightly better end of the deal.

Okay trade. I like the defensive upgrade......decent OBP and decent SB threat. If our GM hadn't shown the obvious ability to find good relievers easily...I wouldn't like the deal..but DM has been absolutely golden when it comes to relievers and we have options to replace him with..we definitely sold high on him...his control is sometimes shaky, but he's definitely pretty good.

Okay trade...Boston probably gets the better end of the deal b/c they control Ramon for longer and cheaper...but I think it makes KC a better team too...so pretty much exactly what you said, Houston.

Boston is making room for $$$ to Texeria and Burnett

    Thats
    manny 20 million
    coco 5.75 million
    tavares ~ 4 million
and if they could dump lugo its I think 9 million

they added bay at about 5-6 million (after arbitration this year (I think))
18 to tex and 17 to Burnett (+ probably another 7-10 in arbitration and they come back MUCH stronger. and god forbid they find a way to move lowel!!!

I know we won this trade but still, Coco was one of my favorites, and one of the funnest players to watch.... I even named one of my cats after him

Disagree completly. I'll go on record right now and predict this guy will make Sox fans pull their hair out. Sox have a tendency to 'buy high' and see players revert to form (Lugo Drew). This guys lifetime ERA and WHIP arnt what I want to see in a reliever.

I hate this move...HATE it. Crisp was a great defensive player, could steal, provided depth in the outfield, hit over .300 after the AS break last year. Sox are trading all that for another Manny Delcarmen?

    1. they will never dump lugo without eating much of the contract

    2. Coco was a 'value' at 5.75 million. They still need to replace his services, and I highly doubt they will do that with a minor leaguer or trust that Jacoby will be able to do the job alone. Someone will come in likely making similar cash as coco.

I'm not sold that the Sawx got the better end. Relievers are so iffy, good one year bad the next. That aside I believe they know Coco wanted out and wanted to do right by him and an extra young talented arm in the pen is something they really needed.

Coco IMO is an underrated talent. Don't get me wrong, he's not a star...but his contract was a value. It's a trade that had to happen, and is very even.

I agree that also the Sox need to find a back up OF after having dealt in the last 2+ seasons - Manny,Coco but also Moss & Murphy & losing Kotsay to FA.It isn't Van Every or Carter who will fill Coco's shoes.

Seems this deal means that Teahan or De Jesus will be moved next as the Royals now have 5 OF for 3 spots as there is already a glut at DH.

LOL....I'm on the Royals mailing list because I bought my tickets through them to see the Sox in KC...so they just sent me the news "Royals acquire Coco!"

The Cubs and Royals are talking about a possible Teahen for Fontenot swap. Teahen is most likely on his way out...DDJ is unlikely to be moved.
