All I know is that I'm thoroughly looking forward to this offseason. Three trades already and the awards haven't even been fully announced. Tons of juicy rumors floating around. Big names on the market. I've never been this excited for an offseason.

Agreed. I'm excited too. It looks like there's going to be some cutthroat battles over certain players and a very active trade market.

I'm thinking the AL (LA, NY, Baltimore, and apparently Oakland) is going to suck up more of the available talent than the NL (LA, NY), and become an even better league overall.

Whoa, I just reliazed Houston Got an avatar. What is it of? And yea, this will be a fun off season, seeing as it JUST started, and is already seeing deals everywhere. One deal i would make would be trade Vlad if I was the Angels. He is too expensive and aging, and they have a full outfield. For Vlad they could get a some great specs

Maybe they could trade him for Robinson Cano.

I'd trade Vlad too, and pick up a Bobby Abreu or maybe even a Manny to replace him. Vlad's great, but he's declining.

They don't need Cano, the have Kendrick, who is a good player

And potentially could be really great. I give im a ceiling around Pedrioa's level, or Aaron Hill. Those would be the two closest to him in my mind

Kendrick hasn't even been a full time player yet. Besides, Cano and Kendrick could be possibly shuffled around the field, maybe with one of them playing SS. That's probably a stretch though.

I'm partially joking though, because I've read dozens of rumors involving Cano for any slugger.

However, they do need power, and Cano is an upgrade over Kendrick.

No way. There's a huge gap between Pedroia and Hill. A huge, massive, almost infinite gap.

I bet Kendrick becomes a Mark Grudzielanek type of player. He'll be better than Hill, but won't come anywhere near Pedroia, who is the best 2B in the AL.

Uh, Kendrick has all the same skill sets as Pedrioa, and has done well when playing. He likely will ot reach Pedrioa, but he may be close, at least to his Rookie Year

But that's like saying, for instance, that Matt Kemp has the same skill set as the young Barry Bonds. It's true, but it doesn't mean anything in terms of how they'll develop, and it doesn't mean Kemp is going to learn plate discipline like Bonds did and set all time records for BB and HR, or come anywhere close.

If Kendrick was really at the talent level of Pedroia, he'd be playing over 100 games in 2007 and 2008.

I'm not saying Kendrick sucks, I'm just saying Pedroia is in a different universe, and I really doubt Kendrick becomes any better than a Grudzielanek type, as I said before. Cano would have far more value for the Angels.

There's one massive difference between the two, a difference that people often overlook when making comparisons between players. Kendrick never walks. 997 career plate appearances, 30 walks. Pedroia doesn't walk a ton, but he'll walk 50 times over a full season. Kendrick would be lucky to walk 20 times over a full season.

30:163 BB:K ratio for Kendrick. 104:101 for Pedroia.

It may seem trivial to some, but that's a world of difference between the skill sets of the two players.
