    Reputation gone?

Is the reputation functionality completely gone?

I know it was underused, I guess...and used inappropriately other times (i think a certain user flagged me a couple times for nothing). But I thought it was useful in a self-regulating type of way, where people would try to be helpful/respectful, lest they have a negative on their reputation...

I don't see the hourglasses or little green 'distinguished road' things anymore.

I didn't even notice, which sorta shows how much I noticed when it WAS there I guess.

    Re: Reputation gone?

Which is a good thing. People usually notice reputation big time on forums where it's used regularly. The problem there is that people tend to leave all sorts of really nasty comments with negative reputation, anonymously. Then it spills over into the forums and creates all sorts of silly pointless fights...
Basically, the problem comes down to the fact that the basic reputation system is too open to abuse. There are some really nice mods that work well but Dee isn't a PHP programmer or anything, plus the fact that the BMO mods that are necessary here could create some problems.

I would sorta argue, RSR, that it was a pointless feature if basically no one ever really used it (or even knew it was there).

    Re: Reputation gone?

It was taken down because people were causing problems with it.

It just so happens that the problems occur behind the scenes.

    Unhappy Re: Reputation gone?

I miss it...I always like to commend a helpful thread or post.

    Re: Reputation gone?

Of course you can just PM the person and commend a thread or post.....I think the fact that people could keep their ID anonymous allowed some abuse to take place.

Pming a guy, adds nothing to his reputation - thanking him on a forum, can.
