Turn off the censor

Dee, do you think you could simply turn off/clear the list of the word censor please? For whatever reason the *'s have really been annoying me personally, recently. I think that since some words were removed a little while back while others remained it just seems kind of silly to leave it now.

I understand and agree completely with the basic reasons why it's in place, but I think that it's simply best left to boom, HGM, and myself (along with the other part time moderators) to take care of on a case by case basis. I know that personally I'm not going to sit by and allow the gratuitous use of cursing, just like we're not going to allow conversations here to completely degenerate into name calling. Some cursing here and there certainly isn't going to hurt anyone, however.

Like What mets guy did when The first set where uncensored? I think at least a few should be uncensored, but dont announce it or anything, and people can figure it out on there own

i would say no, people should be intelligent enough to not use those words and find another word to say in their vocabulary. I would rather see *** then the actually word. The forum does the censorship for us, I wouldn't want the moderators to become sensor nazis.

Well, that's kind of the point. Let people say what they want, and the mods would only intervene if it goes too far. They wouldn't be "censor nazis."

Also, using those words has nothing to do with intelligence.

You can't spell to save your life, but you're exactly right. Even with the censor now, people can spell out their favorite swear words in different ways (spelling it differently, using different characters, etc). I know others like RickD would prefer that everybody just learn to use other (more appropriate) words to express their point, but that's not a realistic option. If enough people were (continually) offended by somebody's posting habits, the moderators would take the appropriate action.
