    Allan Iverson to the Pistons

Just heard this on ESPN that Allan Iverson is getting traded to the Pistons for Billups and McDyess.

very interesting trade...if one believes billups is a bit banged up and spent its good for Detriot. if one believes otherwise, its a very bad trade IMO.

Nice trade by the Nuggets. They need D.

The Nuggets get a point who can play D and runs a great offense (also a hometown boy) and a power forward who is still productive.

AI is good, he can hit shots which is good for the Pistons.

McDyess has said that he want to stay in Detroit. So he may be released.

    That's true.

If he does stick around I think the Nuggets will be better this year.

But they won't be able to keep very many of these guys around and stay under the luxury tax.

The only reason McDyess was added was to even out Iverson's contract. So you can say he helped the team this year.

Interesting trade, in that it sort of works for both teams. Detroit unloads some longer term deals (and still might get McDyess back for one year), and with Iverson up at the end of the year (as well as Rasheed Wallace), they can go full rebuild after the year if they want to. Denver gets a legit point guard, and gets rid of the situation they were in with 2 guys (AI and Carmelo Anthony) who both want to shoot every time they have the ball.

However, he IS a better point guard than Iverson, and they still have a primary scorer in Anthony.

Billups will run a great offense and JR Smith can take over full shooting guard options after Iverson's departure.

Smith and Billups are both great defenders and Smith CAN score as much as AI.

The Nuggets are better this year.

I can't be the only one that thinks this is an absolutely terrible deal for the Pistons.

I know Billups is getting old and very expensive, but if they had any chance of contention this season it just went right out the window.

This trade would be like the Colts trading Peyton Manning, in my opinion.

Assuming that Jim Sorgi = Rodney Stuckey, which is not the case. Stuckey is a young version of Billups who will break out in another year or 2. Solid trade for Detroit if they properly spend the money that the trade will free up for them later.

You are NOT talking about J.R. Smith, right?

J.R. Smith is a TERRIBLE defender - one of the worse in the NBA... Karl has benched him SO MANY times because of his terrible defense. Though, he has the ability to score 20 ppg.
