I agree that the Dodgers could probably get CC cheaper than what it would cost the Yankees, but even so the number will still be so large as to be more than what McCourt can afford. Not with all the other holes that LA has to fill, i.e. SS, 3B, LF, etc. If they could somehow dump the Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre contracts then it becomes more affordable but we all know that ain't gonna happen.

IT was like the Mariners offer for 3 years at 13million per year in 2000 for A-rod...

I'd LOVE to see andruw back again

i think if he loses some of that weight he put on he could be productive again. Id take him as a rental but im not giving anything up for him. They would have to waive him I think

Phuck it, evidently $ isn't a problem for the brewers after all. I mean only $10mill for Cameron? What a steal!!1! I was worried they wouldn't pick up his option & then have to re-sign him for like $4mill after they realized nobody else thinks he's worth that kind of cash

Seriously, I think most of the people on this forum could make better decisions than half the GMs

That maybe be a but high for him, bu if you think he would only get 4m your nuts, on the markey he would proabaly get 7-8M for 3 years.

Ok, allow me to rephrase it. Cameron shouldn't be making up a between 1/9-1/10 of a team's salary (depending on what other moves the Brewers make. If you want to reach on an offer to a player., there are much better options out there to overpay for.

Still...if not him, than who plays center field?

Plus there's the benefit of having him for only one year (resigning to a 1 year deal would be hard and demand close to the same money), where you can reevaluate the situation after this year.

Being 36, even a 3 year deal carries some risk; so while overpaying a bit for him, the risk is rather low.

If I were given the option, I would throw Hart in CF. To replace him in RF, I'd trade either Durham or Weeks (or even trade one of them for a CF if they could, to keep Hart in right). If you can't find a suitable deal, then I'd price Dunn, Juan Rivera, Casey Blake, & Raul Ibanez. Obviously Dunn will cost more, but is younger & brings more to the table. Ibanez is obviously riskier with him being 1 year older than Cameron, but I feel his consistency at the plate places him higher than Cameron (even though he is a Type A though I believe). I see Blake & Rivera wanting longer deals (obviously), but costing less per, being younger & at least equal to Cameron in my opinion. I just don't see spending $10mil on Cameron just to have a CF but hold onto 2 2B ($7.5mill for a backup 2B on a mid-market team at best doesn't sound like a winning strategy to me either). It comes down to whether they want to keep the nucleus together & try to field winning/competitive teams in the coming years, or if they think losing their top 2 pitchers will do enough damage to them to make staying competitive the next year or 2 less likely. I personally think, in the weak NL, they can still vie for a WC spot next season, assuming their younger guys keep improving & Gallardo can stay healthy.

& for the record, no, I don't think they'll find a better backup 2B than Durham

I was thinking bad move on dunn.. BUT... if u trade fielder for a top flight SP Dunn is not a HORRIBLE idea
