Re: trades/signing this off season (Matt Holliday)

ok.. here a question... if escobar is traded (which it sounds like he will be for peavy )
    her are my thoughts
Rentaria 2 years 13 million total? (or am i way of on $$$)
    Furcal 3 years 23 Million
or what is reall yout there for trade... (remember we are giving up 1/2 the farm already i dont want to empty it)

I would not mind furcal back as it would give us the leadoff hitter we need but i think he is going to want close to 50 million for 4 years and he may get it elswhere. Oh yea the andruw jones +14 million for a bag of balls is still on the table.

    lets say its furcal...
thats 13 to furcal (at about 4 for 50)
    8 to peavy
2 to hampton (I honestly think its going to happen)
    7 to Smoltz

    thats tahts 30 million???
would they go over the 40 million, add lowe or maybe sheets for 12-15??? If so... that i think REALLY puts us back on the map

    what do u guys think

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, Jake Peavy and his agent have decided that they'd like Yunel Escobar to remain with the Braves if Peavy is traded to Atlanta.
    Peavy wants Escobar behind him.

SOaB...Looks like the Twins will probably have to get another bullpen arm, as Neshek is going to miss 09.

Just a general observation...but this thread seems to have a ton of different topics, and I understand that it was originally started as a general offseason thread, but I think it's better to keep topics in separate threads. In addition to just simple neatness, it's also easier to make use of the tag system if topics each have their own thread.

I don't know if anybody uses the tags, but I make sure to tag each and every thread in this forum with relevant tags, using a sort of system, as in tag the teams involved, players, general topics such as umpires, rules, trades, etc., etc. And during my free time I go back and tag old threads from prior to the institution of the tag system. I've tagged every thread in Sports Talk up to about 10 months ago.

I think I took the Holliday thread WAY off topic by talking about the Angels, and then proposing a Vlad for Cano trade, which led to the Kendrick/Pedroia talk.

I don't think Holliday had been mentioned for the last 2 or so pages of it.

I didn't pay attention to WHO took it off-topic lol, but yeah, I noticed (and added tags! )

We cant tag unless it is a tag that is already used, and there is another problem true, but I forget, as I have quit tagging

I was the one who mentioned trading Vlad. And it did not go off in a bad way, at least.

I didn't mean use the tag system as in tag your own threads, but as in, using it to look up similar topics.

Yeah, I think it was you and me as a team taking it off topic. You said "Trade Vlad" then I said "Trade Vlad for Cano" and then you said "But they have Kendrick, and could be as good as Pedroia" then I said "You're crazy."
