    I think they can, if for no other reason than New York also desperately needs pitching, and that has to be priority 1. If it comes down to keeping in the thick of things for Tex or for one of the big starters, I almost think the Yanks have to focus more on the pitcher.

    Though I have no faith in the Orioles doing ANYTHING to win.

    Concerning the Yankees, I can see WHY they'd want to get him, but I can't imagine him being a Yankee in a million years. I see the Mets as a MUCH larger player in that one, assuming they decline Delgado's option.

    I'd decline it and pick up Tex in a heartbeat.
    If,Angelos WANTS to pay,& that is a mighty big if - I can see him doing a "Hicks" deal for Tex.

    Something in the lines of 7/200 mill - his team has lost 'bucket loads' of fans (& lucky for him the 'local' competition is so bad!) His team also does have flexible viability going forward (Mora/Miller etc off the books post 09) & does have a nucleus of nice young hitters in Markakis/Jones soon to be up Wieters.

    BTW I think Lowe will be in higher demand than most Ps (only CC will be higher IMO).

    I can see the Yankees in on Dunn more than Tex,he can fill the Giambi spot at similar price (~ 15/18 million) & is a nice "fit" for the team.Yankees will be in on ALL Ps available however,for all the "blurb" they have offered they KNOW that Pitching (especially the young arms) were the cause for their failure & the health/stuff of Hughes & Kennedy may not be good as pre-08 accounts.

    ...and the Halos are just going to sit back and do nothing, or what?
    I really don't get all of the speculation about Tex. Why would the Angels let another team grab him (barring a ridiculous offer, of course... and even then, I still wouldn't be so sure).

    I understand your analysis & would concur that the Angels will offer him a deal during the 15 day Post WS FA re signing period but there some problems which may "put a fly in the ointment":

    1) The Angels (Moreno & Reagins) have stated that their priority is to re-sign Vlad,Lackey & Figgins to extensions (which limits their roll somewhat which is already north of 100 million as it stands) & Boras clients usually always test the FA market rather than re-signing;

    2) they have other "1B options" - in Morales & Wood who need to be in MLB ball in 09 (similar with McPherson/Kotchman promotions in the past);

    3) they will get 2 1sts if they don't resign him &

    4) ARE they really willing to go to 25 million+ a year for him,which is what Scott Boras will be looking for & will undoubtedly get.

    I know there's speculation, but has there been any indication whatsoever that Teixeira will be looking for A-Rod money?

    Ivan Rodriguez to the Red Sox.
    Jason Giambi to the Orioles or Mariners.
    Mike Mussina and Ken Griffey Jr. to the Indians.
    Joe Crede to the Dodgers.

    Well,he is younger than A-Rod & has proven to be an "elite" 1B/offensive bat.When one considers what Manny will command - numbers are in the 20-25 mill Range - I personally cannot see why Boras would ask for less for the premium FA on the market (& he represents both ironically).

    Without doing too much research it seems all the Big markets - Mets,Yankees,Red Sox & Ohm's Halos - will be competing for him (whereas some of those will definately not be in the Manny signing) plus a few Wild Card/Joker teams eg Baltimore & Toronto possibly.

    As I said earlier ,I think he will land a 6/7 year deal at 25 mill a year but I am not a GM . If I was I would rather sign Lowe rather than CC

    Um NO! Either Theo re signs Tek (& that is very possible) or he will trade for a YOUNG Catcher - eg Salty/Teagarden from Texas or Clement from the Mariners

    Orioles ? NO,they will either sign Tex or more than likely move Hernandez to 1B to allow Wieters to catch.Mariners ? Unlikely unless it is a heavily incentive laden deal (to recent memory of SEXSON). Giambi would be a fit in Toronto possibly or Texas....

    Milwaukee is VERY unlikely as Giambi at 38 is just too too bad Defensively.Fielder is still arbitration eligible & will command a salary in the 5-7 million range.If they do trade Fielder they're more than likely will use 1B for Brad Nelson who hit .286 at AAA With some power (18 HRs-.480 SLG) OR shift Bill Hall their.

    Possibly - although I think he is a better fit in Minnesota
