How about a shout out for an Australia team that wins by the MERCY RULE!!!!

Or, at least, as I type this, they are one out away from winning by the mercy rule against Mexico in MEXICO CITY!

I mean, the Nederlands upset of DR was big, but come on, nobody saw this coming either!

    Yep, GAME OVER, early termination.

Australia COMES FROM BEHIND to win 17-7.

They made a FG in the fourth and threw a TD pass................ errr, oh, sorry.

Mexican fans can't be happy about that. I wouldn't want to be their manager right now.

That is awesome. This WBC has been amazing, Australia AND the Netherlands putting up two of the greatest upsets ever in the SAME tournament!

I haven't been following the WBC but I was at my friend's sister's house last night and her boyfriend had the USA/Venezuela game on and I caught Adam Dunn's mammoth home run to right. Man, that thing was a monster.

These games have been fantastic. I watch AUS/MEX and USA/VEN last night. To see teams sorted out with national pride and all that...it's almost Olympic (except for the relatively small crowds in Toronto).

It almost seems like this is how baseball should be...except then it would remove bidding and the free market. And the USA would have to have at least 5 or 6 regional teams, Canada maybe 2.

Something about seeing Jeter pat Pedroia on the head, after he made an amazing diving play...it almost makes me dislike his sneering face just a little less.

But why take out Rollins and go with Jeter...and leave in Chipper?? Chipper does not look like a guy that was chasing .400 last year - he looks like a guy who needs a 3-foot-wide bat to make any contact.

Yea, I don't get why they removed Rollins, that was pretty stupid....

And just like the Olympics, early round games that do not involve the host country generally have weak attendance. The Canada/USA game in Toronto drew over 40,000 which is decent for baseball in March.

I was watching the Japan-Korea game this morning on the Deuce. Kinda cool to be able to watch live baseball at 7:30AM on a Monday morning while getting ready for work. Packed house in the Tokyo Dome but the Koreans won a 1-0 pitchers duel. The Koreans made a Little League-type baserunning blunder in this game - runners on 2nd & 3rd, nobody out, the lead runner gets pegged at the plate on a grounder to SS, while the runner on 2nd hesitates until the ball reaches the plate and THEN goes for third and gets thrown out. A throw him out-throw him out DP.
