I feel pretty confident in assuming that there won't be an Irish team in the WBC in my lifetime. An English team is more likely, and that's an absolute long shot.

    Question Re: Wbc

    The WBC U.S.A. Team...

    http://www.digitalsportsdaily.com/?p=1718

Is this the best that America can offer?

The infield is very good and Chipper should be a great DH, but yeah that starting rotation is a huge question mark outside of Peavy and Oswalt. I also wonder why Hawpe gets the nod over Granderson and Jeter over Rollins.

I imagine if Peavy or Oswalt manage to lose a game in the first round then they're in trouble with Guthrie and Lilly.

That site doesn't match up with the rosters on the WBC site.

Also, no, it's not the best America could offer. There's many players that opt not to play, either by their own accord or at the request of their team. Whoever wrote that article doesn't seem to grasp that.

Sadly that site doesn't change their starting rotation, but their outfield looks better overall. They don't have Sizemore, but they got Victorino and Granderson likely starting and Adam Dunn coming off the bench to pinch hit would be awesome.

"Sizemore had intended to play in the World Baseball Classic, but will skip it due to a nagging injury in his left groin" from Wikipedia...so that guy that wrote the article is operating an out-of-date roster.

The Netherlands beats the Dominican Republic 3-2. Wow, that's a huge upset.

BTW, did anyone notice the rocket arm of the Netherlands' catcher?

Italy and Netherlands I've never heard of a single player on their rosters besides Sidney Ponson

You have never heard of Jason Grilli, Frank Catalanato, Nick Punto, Mark DiFelice, (all italy) and Rick Vanden Hurk(Netherlands) in that case...

Or Greg Halman (Netherlands), who is a top-5 spect for Seattle
