Wow, so the final four won't be like the other brackets.

OK, makes sense. Don't know why I was thinking if they got to the next round they could lose one more again.

Wow. Peavy/Oswalt IS a tough decision.

I think I would start Peavy, only because I still think the best lineup of those left will be Venezuela, and I know we won't play them first, so I would start Peavy first, and hopefully that's a good enough (plus bullpen help if needed) plan to get to the finals and have Oswalt left to likely face that Venezuelan lineup.
If they lose tonight they are done

No, USA goes to Los Angeles next.

    I do know that.

Tonight's USA/Venezuela game only determines Pool winner, both advance to LA.

    Re: Wbc

The Peavy/Oswalt debate is honestly left to who they play in the semis.

If its Japan/Cuba I think I'd take Oswalt because the pitching that Japan would throw out (Darvish/Matsuzaka) would need a great pitching performance on the other side as well and the Cuban team is one of those teams that is all but impossible to come back on.

If its Korea I'd take Peavy. The Koreans have good pitching but they have shown vulnerability (14-2 loss in round 1) to show that the USA could get in a slug fest.

    Yeah, it only affects seeding.

In LA, the Number One seed from this pool (USA/Venezuela) will play the Number Two seed from the other pool (Korea/Japan/Cuba). So if the USA loses tonight (looks likely doesn't it ), they have to play the number ONE seed from the other pool, and Venezuela gets to play the number TWO seed.

Tonight's Cuba/Japan game determines the 4th of the final four, but then the winner of that game will play Korea tomorrow to determine the pool winner and number one seed in that bracket.

    Make sense???

Japan is up 4-0 in the top of the 9th right now and they're threatening to add more. Looks like Cuba is pretty much gone unless they can repeat what the USA did.

Semis set. Japan, Korea, USA and Venezuela

All four of those teams could win it.

Castro called out the Cuban team because they weren't winning by enough in 1st round play. Hate to see what he says about them now.
