Not yet, if they go on and win 1 or 2 more games then I'm not sure if it's an upset more than just a small sample size and a decent team going up against a team nobody knows anything about other than a few names and their pitching coach.

I'd still say its a major upset whether the Netherlands gets blown out in the second round or not.

Upsets are small sample sizes as teams don't know about other teams and downplaying their opponent.

The Dominican were an overrated goliath. The Netherlands an underrated David. That's an upset.

Like Villanova winning the NCAA Tournament as an 8 seed over Goliath Georgetown. Small sample size? Yes, of course. Nova would lose that game 8 out of 10 times. Still happened, still an upset.
Yeah I guess the small sample size thing was stupid to say lol. Still it's hard to call it an upset when you don't know anything about a team when in reality it could just be ignorance.

True. And I think it was ignorance. The Dominicans played down to their opponent. Twice.

Not to mention they were highly overrated.

Still, a great thing for baseball when small teams like the Netherlands can advance like that.

Definitely, I love seeing players from other countries I can't watch on a normal basis and watching other teams prospects playing for their country and showing what they can do.

Oh for sure. Mexico-Australia tomorrow will hopefully be a great game.

Round 2 will hopefully be even better and I don't even want to think how great the semis and finals will be the way this tournament has gone.

06 lacked something for me...maybe it was the upsets...maybe it was the fact the US wasn't very good.

But damn I love this 09 tournament.
