Wrong. 4 teams go to Miami, 4 go to San Diego.

Am I the only one or did Aroldis Chapman remind anyone else of a left handed Dwight Gooden circa 1984, or 1985? You know when he was Dwight Gooden. That was some smooth, easy gas he was throwing. I don't know about the veracity of the stadium radar gun, but he hit 100 mph a few times and it appeared effortless. Wow! If anyone defects I hope he does although that would probably help the Yankees or the Red Sox. What a first round for upsets and it just might continue with the Aussies currently leading Cuba. Oh, I don't think El Commandante is gonna be very happy (if he's still alive that is ).

28, but hey, maybe some coaches or trainer or such will defect, too.

    I say 4 defects. 3 in Miami and 1 in L.A.

BTW, Go Japan...they are the best team out there. The only team that has a shot is Cuba.

Right now, Cuba has it's hands full with Australia.

Personally, I hope Australia wins, because:

    1) I don't like commies ,

    2) Cuba and Japan IMO are the biggest obstacle to the US winning the Classic, so I'm down with them getting eliminated by someone else, and

    3) it would be cool to see if the Aussies can beat Mexico again. (I think that the winner of Cuba-Australia plays Mexico, right?)

No, the loser does and whoever wins that game moves on.

Personally I'm rooting for Cuba over Australia. The top team in my opinion this year is Venezuela, I just think they have the best overall team and then I would have to go with Japan/Cuba/USA in any order really.

Bah, I mis-read the brackets. You're right; both Cuba and Australia can still advance to the next round, so the outcome of this game only determines who will play Mexico on Wednesday and who will get a day off.

Ok, the game just ended in a 5-4 Cuba victory, so the Aussies do get to play Mexico again, and the Mexico-Australia winner gets to play Cuba on Thursday.

I think now that the Netherlands have upset the Dominican twice we can call it one of the biggest upsets in baseball history.

Also, I don't know about Venezuela...bullpen wise they seem to lack.

I think Japan/USA/Cuba/Venezuela are the top four teams but if I can't stick them in any particular order they all have their weaknesses.
