Should the Red Sox Start Beckett Tonight?

Beckett has been huge in the playoffs his whole career.

He's been terrible this year. He's been injured. His velocity is down.

Would you start him in this game?

If they put Lester in, then they would need Beckett in game 7. That's an even bigger spot for him, so no.

Exactly. If Beckett isn't pitching who would the Red Sox put out there? Wakefield? No way.

If Beckett can find his amazing stuff like he usually does in the playoffs we could see an amazing pitchers duel and an amazing end to this series over the next two days.

I guess it dosen't really matter you have to win one game with Beckett and one with Lester, the only way you may swap them is if you think Lester can give you a better outing and beat Shields 2-1 or 1-0 and hope you can get to Garza for 5 or 6 runs if Beckett stuggles a bit.

Yeah...my plan was to start Lester (Who btw, Francona says is 'tired'. Which tells me because of all the extra work compared to last year, that he's hit a wall....which really, really sucks.) and then do starter by commitee for game 7. Papelbon, Masterson, then hope the Sox have a good lead.

I wanted to post this, I didn't write it. It was posted on the Sons of Sam Horn message board by a poster named Jose Melendez, who has been posting what he calls, "Keys to the Game" for quite sometime. I'd rather have a wildcard like Beckett going Game 6 than Game 7, if they were to win tonight. Because if Beckett were to win the game and pitch well tonight, that's a huge boost for the team in so many ways, and then you have more of a "sure thing" going for Game 7.
