if you can sign those five guys for 30-40 million do it in a heartbeat .

.. more than likely you are talking 50-60M (lowe 10m, Sheets 13, Burnett 13, Dunn 14M, Burrel 11M)

You're better off with Dunn or Burrell than Griffey, defensively none of them are too good, and griffey is by far the biggest injury risk

(and really Jones ... you'd even with the money tou'd pay 2m for a guy that bats 200?)

If the quote of 40m to play with accurate you have to consdier Smoltz is about 10 of that, reserve about, 5-6 for depth bench players and you have the ability to sign 2 quality guys, One will almost have to be a pitcher, even if they trade for peavy. Grifffey may be a low cost option, but i doubt an NL team will take the risk of making play the field and hope to get 120 game out of him.

smolts wint be anywhere NEAR 10 million...I will be surprosed if they offer more than 8. the thing is we need a CF not a LF dunn could play 1st and find out if cochman can play LF... but that leaves us yet again with a void in CF. Francouer can play there but hten RF is open... its not a good idea for burrell OR dunn in my opinion

thats the problem I think all the weight put too much pressure on his knees

Report: Braves, Friars near Peavy deallooks like its gonna get done...

Why would you not ask 1st if he would waive it instead of waiting until the end here. it will be funny as hell if he says no

id like to see him say no because he wants escobar playing behind him. I read that somewhee that he wanted the braves to keep escobar.

Because circumstances of the agreed to deal may affect whether or not he'd want to waive it.

    true... like the Escobar thing

    He did
I almost hope he says no because of Escobar... tho im afraid they cant get another deal done that would be AWESOME tho if they could swap Escobar for Johnson. If so Id give them Reyes, Johnson, Hernandez, and Morton.

Peavy, Lowe, Jair, Smoltz Hampton... I'll take it :P

I'm glad Wren stuck to his game plan and not bend like some second year GMs might. Towers simply tried to play us and the Cubs against each other, and failed just like the Twins last year with Santana. I see the Braves getting Lowe plus one of Perez, Garland, or Johnson plus either Dunn or Ibanez (I hope Dunn, I think Ibanez)

Have you guys seen what Hanson has been doing in the Arizona Fall League? It's known as a good hitters league and yet most scouts are saying that Hanson could be the MVP of the league.
