Yeh, it had nothing to do with the fact that jeter & arod were perenial all-stars at that point while nomar was trying to simply play 80 games a season at that point

Incredibly off-topic, but as I recall it Nomar turned down a big offer from Boston and he basically just wanted out of Boston.

Big....but not Arod-Jeter big. And there's some controversy as to whether Nomar even heard the offer before his agent said some stupid crap and the Sox withdrew their offer. Only God, Nomar and the F.O. know what really happened.

And it's not off-topic. Many people think the Sox lowballed Nomar by not offering him a Jeter-Arod paycheck. My position is just because the Yankees make foolish contracts doesn't mean everyone else has too.

Sorry MDM but you could remove half the teams & K-Rod's price would be the same - as it is there are like only 5/6 potential bidders (similar to A-Rod last year WHEN he realized there actually was ONLY ONE potential bidder!)

One has to be serious here,MLB (& the teams) are raking in money,"hand over fist" & thus Allows agents to ask for these prices KNOWING that the owners do have financial viability to pay.Heck even the spendthrift Marlins are going to pay a player 10 million + (or 50% of this season's Payroll!) NEXT season....
