Most dek/foot hockey leagues are very very tough on hitting(some don't allow it at all), plus it is easier taking hits in your shoes rather than on ice skates. Dek is a much less injury-prone style of game
Not to mention most play with the orange puck, which is a bit softer than an actual puck
Soccer; cricket; boxing; basketball; track; tennis; tug-o-war; rounders; softball;
Jock-of-all-try-outs, master of none, I hasten to add.
My proudest sporting moment tho', came in my late fifties, when a bunch of youngsters allowed me to play goal in dek hockey...I did okay, too, just letting the ball bounce off me, until I decided to act like a real goaltender, and catch it in my mitt - then, I, somehow,managed to throw it into my own goal!![]()

I used to play LL and Babe Ruth baseball.
Now I just play a whole lot of pool. Soon to be playing competitively in APA.
I started playing football in high school but a friend of mine played hockey and pointed out that while I practised 5 days a week to play one game, he played 2 to 4 games a week and hardly ever practised because of the cost of ice time to the school. So I switched and am paying for it now, some 30 years later. While I had no major injuries my shoulders and knees always ache from the wear and tear.
Today i play golf, to a 10 handicap I might add. I think hockey did help me pick up golf quicker than most. There was just no way I could have played golf in high school or college. Have you ever seen what golfers wore in the
70's!?!? Hippies and golf courses just did not mix.....
