I voted "Maybe, he still needs to reach a few more milestones", but I think that he will when he retires, so I actually should have voted "yes", although it wouldn't make sense in the context of this question since I don't think he has a Hall of Fame resume YET, which is how the "yes" question is phrased. My brain hurts.

I don't think A-Rod should count on the dominican ticket. He didn't play for the Dominican in the WBC

He's not quite a lock yet, but he's very close to a lock and almost certainly will be by the time he retires.

I'd say that if he continues to play reasonably well - he'll be in. If he were to get hurt and not play again - he'd probably get in based on his current numbers. If he plays 5 more years but his numbers fall off a lot - then I think he could have trouble as that is what the voters would remember.

He should make it, especially with a few more seasons as DH. I think he's starting to become a "Manny-esque" liability in the outfield

He's definitely a Hall of Famer. He's a career .323/.389/.575 hitter, with 392 homers, a formerly great defensive outfielder (not much in the outfield anymore from what I've seen of him), 2136 hits, 147 OPS+. He'd be a borderline Hall of Famer if he retired now, but hes still only 32 so he should be able to improve on his counting numbers (homers, hits, RBI's, etc.) quite a bit.

He should make it, and after a couple of more seasons if he were to retire, he will make it.

    392 isn't good enough?

He's as safe a bet as there is to get to 400 home runs, but I never understood the obsession with round numbers.

Its not like the guy is 36 and on a heavy decline. He's only 32, and while hes probably about to go on a decline, if he hasn't started already, a lot of his numbers stand to only get better.

Apparently they are sexy to some. I agree with you Ohms, however. I prefer straight numbers, not those GAY round numbers
