Re: 2008 Sports Mogul MLB Awards - Ballot Discussion

My votes might seem a lil skewed to you, but I don’t look at the teams as much as I look at the players individual success and my criteria is very different then many others. So I am prepared to defend my answers.

    NL MVP

    1. Albert Pujols
    2. Hanley Ramierz
    3. David Wright
    4. Ryan Howard
    5. Chipper Jones
    6. Chase Utley
    7. Matt Holiday
    8. Lance Berkman
    9. Ryan Braun
    10. Ryan Ludwick

    AL MVP

    1. Josh Hamilton
    2. Miguel Cabrera
    3. Alex Rodriguez
    4. Dustin Pedroia
    5. Joe Mauer
    6. Aubrey Huff
    7. Carlos Quentin
    8. Jermaine Dye
    9. Grady Sizemore
    10. Vlad Gurrero

    NL CY Young

    1. Linceum
    2. Webb
    3. Santana

    AL CY Young

    1. Lee
    2. Halladay
    3. Mussina

    NL Reliever

    1. Lidge
    2. Fuentes
    3. Valverde

    AL Reliever

    1. K Rod
    2. Soria
    3. Nathan

Not bad, except K-Rod is not the best reliever, and your AL MVP is a bit messed up. Mauer and Pedrioa should be higher, and Morneau should be up with them. And Youkilis should be on the list

    2038 Padres-Matthew Graham Perfect Game 1-0 victory!

I can certainly agree with you. I just dont feel Morneau quite did it, but you are right, he probably should be on there somewhere, he played a great year even if his homeruns were down. Perodia and Mauer I question bc neither hit 20, hell Mauer didn't even hit 10. I really love the way both players play, but I question their MVP status. I wish they were on my team though!

K-Rod, just because he really did help the Angels and I feel his record year should be given some credit, even if he was helped a lot along the way.

Who would you put as AL Reliever? just curious that's all

My AL reliever was Joe Nathan I believe. And just because Pedrioa and Mauer did not hit 20 does not mean they did not contribute. They play positions that normally are lesser offensivley, and did really good.

I agree with you, but I am not sure they are above 4 and 5 in my opinion. if Mauer batted .372 again I'd say he is putting himself in a different league, but his average this year wasn't anything to get too excited about in my opinion

He fits the "emerging" definition, like with Ryan Ludwick and and Carlos Quentin.

Read the thread stickied at the top of this forum (Sports Talk). It has all the instructions. Make sure to submit your ballot to me via PM or email for it to be officially counted.

Why Torre for 2nd? They barely topped .500. And Ned Yost got fired, and was a poor manager. And I would rank Mussina after Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Matsuzaka, and Lester AT LEAST

I've got a better question: Why are you just sitting around waiting for people to post their ballots so you can criticize them?

I'm having a tough time with my #3 for AL Cy Young. There's so damn many starters who are just so close together, it might just end up being a closer.
