You're forgetting one major aspect of what makes a stadium an icon...longetivity.

Wrigley's been the Cubs home stadium since 1916. Yankee Stadium has been around since 1923. Soldier Field and The Rose Bowl have existed since the 1920's, as well. MSG and Lambeau are much newer than that, though Lambeau is home to one of the most storied franchises in the history of pro football. Hell, most people acknowledge that Yankee Stadium is a dump, but it's been around since '23, and it also has the mystique of being home to the winningest sports franchise of all time.

Nobody's putting down Shea or mocking it's legacy, but it doesn't have the same name value to the average person that those others do. Non sports fans have heard of Wrigley, Yankee Stadium, MSG and Soldier Field...they know what those places are even if they aren't fans of the sport. If you asked 50 random non-sportsfans where Shea was, how many do you think would get the answer right?

so that means it doesn't exist.

And based on your list previous list we better count The Toronto stadium as storied becasue they had some good players and won back to back WS, Oh and the Metrodome too same reason... and dont forget Fulton county stadium.

And Grifith pay for the braves too back in boston because they won a lot there too. the Mets had guys walk thru their doors I agree, but NOTHING like Fenway, Wrigley, and Yankee stadium. The Mets couldnt hold some of those guys jock straps. I mean come on you are not really sersious right. And I have been to Yankee, Fenway, and Shea (among others) and out of all 3, I LOVED shea the best, in fact the only reason they are getting a new stadium is because the Yanks are, there is NOTHING wrong with Shea

Personally, I think Shea is one of the uglier stadiums, and it has abnoxious music and loud speakers.

I've been comfortable when I've gone to Yankee Stadium. Shea, though, I wasn't.

I sat in the bleacjers just for the hell of it this year and it SUCKED
2 years ago i sat in regular seats and they were no better than Shea. People sas shea is a dump, I honestly dont see if as a dump. If anything its one of the nicer stadiums I have been to. People are not jerks there either. I get heckeled with my Braves tshirt and hat when I go but its all in RELATIVE fun... you go to yankee stadium and they want to KILL you. The braves are not even their rival in any way shape or form (except a few WS which we got our @$$es kicked), but at she its fun. they are just mean in yankeeland *shrug*

guess im trying to sa the atmosphere is better in shea. Yankee fans are so obsessivly mean its scary

Not only was Wrigley home to the Cubs, it was home of the Bears from 1921-1970. The likes of Gale Sayers, Red Grange and many many great NFL players played at Wrigley. It has hosted the second most NFL games ever, and only Lambo has more NFL championships than Wrigley

Just look at the Wiki page for Wrigley, there's more history there than any other stadium thats alive today

Fenway has awesome seats and views, I love it. The food is great, if pricey, and the seats are comfortable. The ony problm I have ever had is when we sat behind the Pesky pole. It sorta got in the way . And I get Braves games up here, and Shea plays abnoxious music Lol

The Fenway seats from the 1930's are possibly the most uncomfortable seats a 6'3 man can sit in.

I learned that when I watched the Sox play the Rangers last summer.

it's one of the things I love about Fenway...I hear Wrigley doesn't exactly have comfortable seats either. It's the imperfections that I love about these stadiums.

no, the Yankees don't play the Dropkick Murphy's, Sweet Caroline, the Standells. Not to mention, Fenway has a great feel to it
