    Ichiro or Gwynn?

Who do you think is better?

You can compare them peak Vs peak, career Vs career, which one helped your fantasy team more, whether you like the Padres better than the Mariners, which one you'd prefer to play catch with, I don't care.

feel free to share with us whatever reason you used in your determination

I'll agree that its Gwynn, but I don't think its by the huge margin everyone is saying it is. Maybe that's just because I didn't really start watching baseball till the early 2000's, and therefore didn't really see and don't remember him.

Ichiro's the better fielder and baserunner, but Gwynn had more power and was better in relation to his league than Ichiro was (132 OPS+ for Gwynn, 117 for Ichiro).

Gwynn is also considerably fatter, especially now. I saw a video of hiim on Yahoo a few months ago talking about the NL West, and he was HUGE

With his background Ichiro probably like sushi, which i like a whole lot, but Gwynn looks like the kinda guy you can stand around a grill making Brugers and Brats ...

    .. So i go with Gwynn ..

    Re: Ichiro or Gwynn?

You also have to look at Ichiros full body of work...
MLB: Gwynn (and it isn't close)
Total Body of work (Japan + US) Ichiro by a hair.

Gwynn is a once a generation type of player, and so is Ichiro. He didn't start playing in the MLB till he was 27, yet started in Japan in 1994. He set the hit record and won the MVP there, and was part of the best of 9 each season he played....Ichiro also has a few gold gloves and has the ability to turn a single into a double (base stealing).

What matters the most thou, I would love to have both on my team during their peak years.

What kind of Mariner's fan are you? It must have been Coach Owens or AsianInvasion
