    Candidates on post-1943 Veteran's Committee ballot announced

    The candidates for the post-1943 Veteran's Committee ballot were announced today.

    Joe Torre
    Ron Santo
    Gil Hodges
    Dick Allen
    Jim Kaat
    Luis Tiant
    Tony Oliva
    Vada Pinson
    Al Oliver
    Maury Wills

    I'm not sure if managerial records are allowed to be considered, but I'll assume they aren't. I'd vote yes for Torre and Santo, and probably Allen although I'm a bit undecided on him.

    *Looking at the track record of the Veterans Committee*

    None, but I'd vote for Santo, Hodges, and Torre

    Torre = no as a player, yes yes yes yes as a manager
    Santo = yes
    Allen = Can I pull an Obama and vote 'present'? If i HAD to vote I'd swing to yes
    Tiant = another coinflip, but no
    Oliva = no, very good but no
    Kaat = Yes, I think he was a little better than tiant all things considered
    Pinson = No
    Wills = -hmm, I would love to say yes, but I can't bring myself to
    Ron Santo = yes, he was mike schmidt version 0.9

    They can use managerial record in their considerations. I'd put Torre, Kaat, Santo Hodges, and Oliva in.

    It's confusing because the voting rules say they can, but they split up the ballots to "Players" and "Managers/Umpires".
