Brendan Harris was rung up in a critical moment against the Brewers when he called for time while in the batter's box, his request was not granted, and he struck out while not looking. Honestly, it it really that important to make games 5 minutes shorter?

Looking at the length of the games is missing the point. It's the pace of the games that needs to be addressed. All the needless waste of time that goes on while batters and pitchers try to mess with each others' heads between pitches not only makes the games longer, it drains out a lot of the tension and entertainment. Unless you really like watching someone adjust their batting glove 35 times during an at-bat.
Agreed. I don't care if it 'only' saves five minutes. That actually might be about right. This is a question of pacing...I know when I'm at the park I get VERY tired of seeing pitchers and batters just staring at each other practicing their telepathy.
