Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are .

This seems like it's becoming an increasingly common occurrence and it's really pathetic.

Andre Ethier had a five-ball walk recently, against the Phillies. He actually didn't notice, but it seemed the pitcher did.

Funny clip, man. I haven't seen that movie for awhile.

Were I in charge, I'd be making one call right now...to inform said ump that he's now out of a job. Seriously, you're monitoring balls and strikes...it's what you're paid to do...you've proven you can't do it, so no more getting paid.

I think it some times has something to do with how long both pitchers and batters can take to be ready for the pitch.

While certainly not making excuses for the ump, I think the batters and pitchers taking so long ARE a factor....and I think they slow up the game. Maybe baseball needs a rule regarding length of time between pitches if there's no time out.

Exactly. There's already rules in place for that, although off the top of my head I don't know the exact details. All that would need to be done is to enforce them.

I agree with this. The rules that are in place need to be enforced...I doubt I'm the only one tired of the sequence of...and that's ball one. The hiter steps out of the box...he adjusts his left glove, his package, his left glove again, his right glove, his helmet, works a kink out of his neck, his right glove again, taps his cleats, re-adjusts the gloves, enjoys a latte, brushes his face, does some pilates...

Seriously... One of the things I like about baseball is that it's "slow", but come on! Play the game!
