But then hearing someone yell. "Jason Bay, you're a ******!" Kinda ruined it.

So, we've heard his side, we've heard the side of the cops...has anyone asked the people AROUND him what happened yet?
Anyway, if it is true that they are having police officers instruct the fans that they are to stand for this song, which is not the anthem, that's simply ridiculous.
I was at Shea in April and they didn't play it.
I don't really like that Yankee Stadium plays God Bless America, although I don't really care. I do think it's a bit ridiculous that they make such a huge deal about it that YES plays it on TV every single game. I also think it's flatout wrong that they chain people in their sections and force them to stand.

Well I went to at least 10 Met games this year (first one on May 11th) and they've played it every time.
In summary, although it peeves me that they play this song, the MUCH MORE SERIOUS issue is that they force people to stand and not leave the stands. That's just messed up.

Can you PLEASE read the part of the constitution that discusses this? Maybe even google or wikipedia the meaning. I'm kind of tired seeing you use it improperly.
Yankee games aren't Govt. sponsored events. If they want to play GBA they are protected by the constitution that you misrepresent in doing so.
That said, the Yankees should in no way force people to stand, and support this in any way...however legally it is sticky and they as a private company probably could make policies against being a nuisance during its playing. I"m not a lawyer...but I imagine its sticky.
good point, there's probably much more to this story.

But non-religious entities shouldn't be sponsoring religion.

The only problem I have with GBA...is that it is God Save the Queen....for America.
Let's stick to the star spangled banner...in my opinion.
Well, my problem is with the word "God"- a word which should not be said IMO in any non-religious public events.
