    Re: NFL Predictions

Chuck I don't agree that the Broncos go 5-11. They have a fairly easy schedule.

8-8 is my pick for them. In a great situation 9-7.

    My predictions

    AFC:
    East-New England
    North-Pittsburgh
    South-Indianapolis
    West-San Diego
    Wild Card-Cleveland and Jacksonville

    NFC:
    East-Dallas
    North-Minnesota
    South-New Orleans
West-Arizona (I always do this, they disappoint me)
    Wild Card-New York and Washington

    Playoffs

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh-Re-match of last years wild card game. Jacksonville wins again.
Cleveland at San Diego-Chargers won't lose at home.

Washington at Arizona-Tough game, Washington wins, barely.
New York at New Orleans-New York continues their road playoff win streak.

Jacksonville at New England-First of two rematches in the playoffs. Jacksonville upsets the Patriots in a huge win.
San Diego at Indy-Indy gets revenge on San Diego for last years loss and heads to the AFC championship

Washington at Dallas-Cowboys are stacked and they won't get upset this season.
New York at Minnesota-Minnesota focuses on their dominant D and AP to get the job done and take down the defending champions

Jacksonville at Indy-The Colts and Jags put up a great game but I see the upsets to continue. I think Garrard will have an outstanding game and the Jags will go to their first Super Bowl

Minnesota at Dallas-Vikings have never won a Super Bowl...but they won't get a chance this season. Cowboys are too good and on a mission.

    SUPER BOWL:
Jacksonville vs. Dallas-Great game from start to finish but the talent of the Dallas side is just one too much for a Jacksonville team no longer sneaking up on anyone.

I predict the Bears will do horribly. 6-10 at best.

Not to go off topic but Anquan Boldin has asked the Cardinals for a trade.

    Re: NFL Predictions

I'm not too surprised. There is no way one team can pay two top flight receivers like Boldin and Fitzgerald enough money (and still have the space for other talent), AND make sure they both get enough catches to be #1 guys. It isn't going to work. Both of these guys wanna be #1, and neither of them is going to settle for less.

I also don't think they move him, not now. What are you going to get for the guy at this point in the preseason that makes the move worthwhile, ESPECIALLY considering they need him this year to make a playoff push...they already don't have a bona fide #3 widout, they can't afford to lose one of their big starters. In the offseason, though, if he still wants to go, I could see the move being made.

I predict that QBs are going to think twice about throwing it to Cromartie's half of the field this season

I'm sure the recent trade demands have nothing to with Rosenhaus being Boldin's new agent

The AFC West has the best corners per division in football.

Champ Bailey, Asomugah (sp?), Cromartie, Quentin Jammer, Dre Bly.

Boldin wants Fitzgerald money. The problem is...

Boldin isn't even close to Fitzgerald.

He won't get traded, and he'll probably get a reworked deal, but without him this team would be garbage (and possibly will be anyway). Everything hinges on those two receivers.

Well considering Boldin statistically is better then Fitzgerald over the past four years apart from last year....

You mean last year AND 2005.

Fitzgerald's simply more talented. They're both excellent, but Fitzgerald is taking over as that team's primary weapon. Better size and better hands than Boldin.

    Fitz is a monster.

Better size? I don't think so. Better hands and speed, yes.

Boldin is one of the best wideouts in the game as is Fitz and the Cards had to know they couldn't keep them both in town.

Both deserve the amount of money they are asking.

Those 2 inches make a HUGE difference.

Much better hands, but Boldin is better at making things happen in the open field. He trumps Fitzgerald in terms of agility.

Agreed, but it sucks to hear Boldin point out Fitzgerald's money and say he deserves "the same." I don't think Boldin is worth Fitzgerald money, other than to keep him on the team: making Fitzgerald better and giving them potentially the best WR combo in the NFL.

Only on the deep routes. Boldin is better over the middle. That's why in 06 and 07 he gathered way more receptions then Fitz

Fitz does have the speed though.

They have the best WR combo on the team, IMO. I think Boldin can be worth Fitzgerald money...just not on the same team.

You're right. They do different things, but Fitz's height also allows him to get the ball in the end zone. That's why he's a touchdown machine and Boldin's there to pick up first downs or move the ball ON first down. If you had to go with only ONE though, you'd be crazy not to take a taller receiver, so long as the skill package was relatively even otherwise.

Not to take anything away from Boldin's size though, because he does have good size.

You're probably right about that. This team can't really afford to give them both what they're worth. They will have to address that in the future by letting go of one (probably Boldin) and focusing on building the rest of the team.
