    Favre to the Jets

ESPN is reporting that it has been confirmed.

I don't give half a crap about football, but finally, this whole attention-grabbing mess is over.

I can't say I understand this whole soap opera. Favre is undoubtedly one of the best ever to play the game at his position, but having him drag out his career like this has got to be embarrassing - to the Packers, to the Jets, and ultimately to himself.

Well, like I said before, I am VERY interested now to see if Brett's 'desire to play' perhaps dwindles, now that he's stuck on a team that does not have a hope in Hell of possibly making a Super Bowl run.

So in other words, that 4th round pick will never become a first round pick.

It's not even guaranteed to be a fourth rounder.

Though, should the Jets entertain an idea of trading Favre to the Vikings or Bears (and I'd bet the Lions are in there, too) a 'poison pill' clause would mean that Green Bay would get their next 3 first round draft picks.

Would Minnesota offer up 3 1st rounders to get Favre just to piss the Packers off? Then the Jets are safe and they still get 3 picks.

But ultimately he wants to play, and if he wants to and still can...he should fight for that. People forget the drama...he's remember passing up on the opportunity forever.

Gee, what a way to end a career. The Jets? Oh well, at least the fans will actually pronounce his name the way it should be said. FAAAVEREE!

They could be a wild card team. You want to tell me that the Jets with Favre are any worse than the Titans or the Browns?

They won't win the division (obviously) but they could get into the playoffs...after that it's anybody's guess. Who saw Eli and Co. coming last year?

Exactly. The high of being on the field, of competing at the highest level, is the greatest that Favre will likely ever experience. Forgive my Maslow, but it's the highest point of self-actualization in his life, and he only has a short window to do it. It's not like being a writer or something, where you can get tired of it for five years and come right back where you left off. You should extend your glory days for as long as possible, so you don't end up regretting it later.

That said, I totally disagree with the high school drama crap that went on between Packers and himself, what with his noncommittal actions and statements, and their attempt to essentially bribe him.
