Pffth. Trouble was, George kept living in the past, instead of getting younger like Cashman wanted, King George wanted all those old and tired veterans. Pffth.

I read somewhere that it's now a Yankees goal to start avoiding the Luxury Tax...

NY Post says he's heading to the DL, but no info on the extent of the injury.

A DL stint was basically guarenteed because of how cautious they're being with them. Really, that he's now on the DL changes nothing since yesterday.

actually, it has. They said he was missing 1 start. A DL stint is more than 1 start.

They never said all he was missing one start. They said he was going to miss his next start, at least. Yes, the DL stint means he'll be out for 15 days. I meant, it tells us nothing about the nature of the injury of the long-term outlook.

right, they haven't said anything about the extent...I think I did say that in my previous post?

It always starts out as "cautious", but that doesn't change the fact that hes headed to the DL and seeing one of the doctors no athlete ever wants to have to see. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yankees shut him down for the rest of the season regardless.

That's the one thing I've always liked about the Yankees, is that their not at all afraid to DL and/or bench a player just to be cautious.

Of course, most baseball teams are like that. It's not like Football where you're expected to play injured, and damn the consequences.

Apparently its just shoulder tendinitis, but if they sent him to Dr. James Andrews it must be really severe or something.

No, not necessarily. Being sent to Dr. Andrews may seem like a "death sentence" of sorts, but it does NOT always mean that there's something seriously wrong with the player. As I said, it could be done clearly as an EXTREMELY cautious measure.

Regardless, what chance the Yankees did have of making the post-season is severely diminished by Joba missing any real number of starts. I believe they'd already lost something like 7 of their last 10.

I heard rotator cuff tendinitis, and that Joba's been told to rest his arm entirely for a week.
