Not picking on ya...I just find it comical hearing from many jumping off the wagon if Joba's out for any length of time. Really....he's a great talent, but if he's the reason to be on that wagon then it was doomed to crash.

In my mind it has nothing specifically to do with him. It's a close race, and it looks like the Yankees have lost a big piece while the Sox haven't. That sort of thing tends to change the probabilities rather significantly...

By the way, I wouldn't fear anything like with Liriano...this is Chamberlain's shoulder, not his elbow. It could still be something bad, but he's not going to need Tommy John....I'd actually say that the Yankees are just being extremely cautious with him, and that's the main reason behind sending him to Dr. Andrews.

I understand all that. But didn't it start out as "just being cautious" with Liriano as well? I think the Yankees are in for an ugly surprise.

It has also not been kind to waistlines, and, historically speaking at least, Mexicans.

Prediction: Hank Steiny will do the usual Yankee maneuver of panicking and throw gobs of money at a slightly-about-mid-level veteran starter, buying him away from another team. Probably National League. Look for Jeff Suppan, Odalis Perez, or maybe Brad Penny in pinstripes shortly.

But boy, them Yanks are always at the top, aren't they? History proves that! Must be their "character".

THey do seem to historically rise to the top and a lot of that was before the Steinys.......

However I agree if they fall here Hank will open up the coffers!

Depends on what you mean by open up the coffers. I actually believe Hank is much much more patient than George. I think they will make serious runs at CC., Texiera, and players like them but ONLY to replace the very large payroll coming off the books. I don't think there will be a large payroll increase next year over what they are currently at.

I agree about Hank being more patient, but ultimately I think what George wants, George gets.
