I just wonder why it took him so long to release LoDuca when he has Wil Nieves and Jesus Flores on the roster, both of whom have performed better. Or why he gave up Brian Schnieder in the first place.
I still say there will be a World Series trophy in DC before Baltimore. Especially with Angelos running the O's. He's lucky there's Jeffery Loria, or he'd be the worst owner in American professional sports.
What else can you say about a man who in one year signed Sammy Sosa, Miguel Tejada, Rafael Palmeiro, and Javy Lopez, and then was mystified when injuries and off-the-field issues tore his team apart in July?
Well, true enough that Angelos has destroyed everything we had as a team (you forgot Albert Belle)But the Nationals getting a champeenship before the O's? With Bowden at the helm? Yagottabekiddin.

"Any kid who grew up in Maryland would feel that it was a great dream to play in an Orioles uniform...thank you all for always treating me like family."
-- Harold Baines, 46th member of the Orioles Hall of Fame
I'm seriously sick of the ballpark whining. They have a stadium that seats 50,000. It's not falling apart. It's not even that old. And it's certainly not the worst park in the majors.
If it's such a bad park, how come they won two World Series, while the Pirates, Orioles, Mariners, and every other team to have a shiny new imitation Fenway/Wrigley built in the last ten years haven't even sniffed a pennant?
The ballpark has nothing to do with winning the World Series...
Are you talking about Florida?
Yes. The ballpark impacts revenue, which impacts payroll, which impacts talent on the field, or at least the ability to retain talent. I thought that was Loria's whole argument, that he couldn't field a competitive team because he couldn't afford the salaries necessary, because he couldn't make any money off his ballpark?
That's what Loria says. He has to be pocketing tons of money, because Florida gets a ton in revenue sharing. He's a scumbag.
The Marlins DO need a new ballpark though, in my opinion. That place is not built for baseball.
Certainly. But it doesn't keep them from fielding a competitive team.
Well, here's a better question. WTF did he trade his BEST bullpen arm for Benewhothehellever in the first damn place??? Answer me that one, and I might entertain the notion that we'll have a trophy before Baltimore.
Jim Bowden is an idiot. True, I'm an idiot too, but I'm not running a MLB ballclub. Jim Bowden is. Why Jim Bowden is is beyond even my idiotic imagination.
Of course the owners aren't all that bright either. They boot Robinson and keep Bowden (personally I would've gotten rid of both, but if I had to pick just one to go, it would've been Bowden), and then make this incredibly stupid "I want $100,000 per game the stadium wasn't officially finished" claim, when as far as I know, they got to play all of their games there. Talk about a brilliant PR move, that one ranks right up there.
There's worse GMs than Bowden, believe it or not...
