    How come....

its the trade deadline, and of the teams that are sellers there is one being completely ignored??

That would be because the Washington Nationals are so freaken bad they can't make it to the level of sellers.

This team is a joke, and as long as the Orioles get their TV money and Jim Bowden runs the team, they will continue to be a joke. They might as well have stayed in Montreal.

But seriously, don't the Dodgers need a shortstop?? Why isn't there at least some rumor of Guzman to the Dodgers? (Yeah, I know he just signed an extension, but sometimes that actually increases value). I mean I know that Furcal will be back next year, but will Kent?? I really wonder why Colletti isn't considering something like this.

And I'm wondering if Paul LoDuca might be available. He might provide some value for some team, yet I hear nothing. I hear absolutely no mention whatsoever of the Nationals. I guess they really are that pathetic.

Ronnie Belliard is another possibility in my mind. Not a great player, but a serviceable backup IF if theres a need somewhere. Again, no rumors or anything.

I heard the White Sox and Nats are on the verge of a deal for John Lannan.

Probably because the Dodgers and Nationals aren't talking about him

(Yeah, I know he just signed an extension, but sometimes that actually increases value).
Signing an extension would indicate that Bowden thinks Guzman is a part of his future plans.

I mean I know that Furcal will be back next year, but will Kent??
Both are free agents at the end of the year.

Tim Redding...you'd think somebody could use him.

I wouldn't have minded Guzman in L.A. if we could have got him at the same rate the DBacks got Rauch.

The Nats don't have much to sell.

Furcal is too?? I thought I heard somewhere they still had an option on him somewhere. Oh well, my bad, for some reason I thought they had one more year with him.

Well, then, a deal for Guzman would make even more sense then.

The Nats don't need TV revenue. They're too busy trying to rape DC over the stadium.

Hey, the Nats made a deal.

Nationals acquired shortstop Alberto Gonzalez from the Yankees for RHP Johnny Nunez.

They already raped DC over the stadium, they're just going for seconds.

But, maybe if they got their own TV revenue, they wouldn't have felt the need to go for seconds. When I first heard about them going after this $100,000 a day or whatever I was disgusted, then I was even more demoralized because it suddenly occurred to me their money problems from little TV revenue might be even worse than I first thought.

I think for every MLB team, TV money is a BIG part of their functioning revenue. The fact that the Orioles get theirs (or at least most of it, up to 90%) and the fact that they are the ONLY MLB team that his this constriction, really means their revenue streams have to be considered non-competitive.

I've said earlier (and never would've thought I would've said it after the heartbreak of losing my beloved Senators), the only thing worse than not having a team is having one that is doomed to be forever competitively disadvantaged.

The only joy I get out of the whole situation is that even receiving TV revenue from TWO teams the Orioles still suck. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hm, OFG, can you explain this situation to me? The Orioles get the money that the Nats games on TV produce? Hm?

The Nats don't produce, all Nats games are on MASN, owned by Peter Angelos. And yes, all Orioles games on that channel too.

    Re: How come....

That was part of the deal in the move. It was the only way that Angelos would "let them into his market"...

Take heart though OFG. You'll have some lean years watching the Nats, for sure, but their in some pretty darn good company with deals like this. The NJ Devils had to put up with the same sort of deal, for example.

    Re: How come....

Just got back from the game. Saw Bonifacio. He looked way over matched. Not that I'm an expert scout but he was way late on just about every pitch thrown to him. He did have a solid single against a drawn in infield, but in four AB's he stood out as not looking like a major league baseball player.
