I absolutely positively disagree that they DEFINATELY lost more than they gained.
They gained two major league hitters. One of which, Tex, had a damn good year in Atlanta, for a relief pitcher, and some prospects who may or may not make it.
It might be late but I voice my opinion that the Angels are now the favorites in the American League.
Once the bats get hot in LA there might be no stopping this team. Vlad, Hunter, Tex are pretty wicked. not to mention Garrett Anderson and Gary Matthews
The Red Sox need to do something if they want to catch up and go back to the series.
And I agree with Filihok the Braves haven't lost this deal yet. Let these prospects pan out. Tex is a rental in LA he will go free agency. Kotchman is one of the better young players. I personally think we should see what pans out with the players moved before we start declaring winners and losers.
The Angels look really good, with Tex joining a lineup that already had a FINALLY producing Vlad Guerrero in the middle of it. And, considering everyone sees the Sox as the kings of the AL...Anaheim is 7-1 against them so far this year.
I'm happy...they were my Series pick. I could potentially make some pretty solid coin.![]()

Can't tell you how bummed I am about this trade. Tex is an Annapolis kid; he grew up loving the O's and wanted desperately for Angelos to swing a deal that would bring him home before he went to Atlanta - but then again, this is Angelos. And you can see how well we do with him at the helm.

By the way:

In retrospect, the decision to trade for Mark Teixeira at the 2007 trade deadline looks like a poor decision for the Atlanta Braves. They were not able to make the playoffs in 2007 and have struggled in 2008, leading to the recent decision to trade Teixeira to the Angels for Casey Kotchman and pitching prospect Stephen Marek. While it is easy to criticize the Braves now, a more accurate evaluation of the Braves decision requires us to look at the trades with only the information the Braves could have had at the time of their trades. By doing this, we can try and determine if the Braves made a good decision, regardless of the bad outcome that occurred for them. Obviously that is easier for us to do with the more recent trade to the Angels that the Braves made.
