Ponson's not going to keep it up. It's worth getting a league-average pitcher for nothing for insurance.

Washburn is better than Kei Igawa by quite a bit

But that's not the point of the deal. The whole point of this deal is for the m's to dump salary.

He's actually pitched well the last couple of months. This would be a very underrated, and very good pickup for the Yankees, IMO.

There is no point in dumping salary if the Mariners are making too much money. This would be a stupid deal. The salary isn't even what matters. It is talent. The Mariner will make around 15million dollars this year. And the past 6 games, 3 vs Cle, and 3 vs Bos have drawn around 240k in fans.

The fans are here, time to get some talent for talent type of thing. Not a salary dump. The Mariners have done everything right except for the talent on the field. Safeco is a great place to watch a game. Marketing is fantastic. Product SUCKS! Getting a lesser player for Washburn is stupid.

I know, but I would rather pay a pitcher 10M to go 12-10 or so and be ok than pay Igawa any money, when he will likely start like 5-6 games

I've got Kei Igawa on my 2008 Carolina Cougars BM expansion team, and he's pitched 111.0 innings as a long reliever, 50+ appearances, with a 2.57 ERA.

    lol.
