The Mariners had 120thousand fans come and see the last place Indians at Safeco this weekend...WTF, the Mariners may be mismanaged, but they are running the business very efficently. They will make over 15million dollars this year...

I will say this, even though many monday morning lying quarterbacks want to critique the Mariners for the Bedard trade, everyone I rememeber though the deal made them a legitimate contender and significantly upgraded them at the time of the trade. Now all I read is morons like Skip whatever on ESPN First Take who claim that they always hated the deal and wouldn't have dealt Adam Jones straight up for Bedard. Whatever

haha, thanks for the honesty. Bedard was nasty (when healthy) the past couple years, as nasty as anyone in the league. MANY players struggle their first year in a new environment. Let things settle for Bedard, I think he'll rebound. Seattle would be extremely dumb to trade him low after acquiring him high. It would be the worst case of baseball economics I've ever seen to be honest. You don't trade for a guy at his peak value, and then deal him when his stock sinks so quickly.

    But anyhow, thats off point.

I actuall didn't like the deal because the Mariners were giving up Jones. I still can't believe the Mariners gave him up, and I was being optimistic about it when Bedard came to Seattle. But right off the bat, he was a jerk to the Mariners fan base (especially the media) and this was before he even through a single pitch. And than the Mariners didn't do there homework, Bavasi called out Bedard on his way out the door, but rather, Bedard has had a 100 pitch count his whole career...so when Bedard comes out in the 5th inning after throughing 100 pitches...it is what he has done his whole career. That is the sucky part. Bedard was suppose to be the Mariners Ace, yet we got a good #3 starter for one of the best Prospects in Baseball, and a good serviceable Left Hander..

Well, I could understand the hoopla over bedard. The guy was turning 28, was dominant for then end of the 2006 season, and when healthy for much of 2007. Big strikeout numbers as well. Jones supposedly is a star prospect, but he is still a prospect. I personally thought it was a good deal at the time, and had seen enough of Bedard to believe he will bounce back if he can stay healthy. The guy flew his family across country and came in with such hoopla, I'm guessing it was too much for him. After an offseason to adjust, and lower expectations, I think he's too good not to settle in. It does suck for this year however, and cost some people their jobs.

Easy to say now, but I never understood the hooplah over Bedard. I can't get excited over guys who come out of nowhere for a good season. Too much chance to go back.

He was league average in 137 innings in 2004. Slightly above average in 141 innings in 2005. A solid #2 starter in 196 innings in 2006. An ace in 2007 in 182 innings. He didn't "come out of nowhere."

I agree...and whats important to me was that it wasn't just 2007 that he pitched like an ace, the last month or two in 2006 he was very very good. So we saw his maturation as he came into his prime years and learned how to pitch.

I can't believe this is a question. I don't see why or how they would deal him. He is over paid to a lengthy deal and he is the main attraction to the team

Someone should email Clay, there's obviously a bug in the game...

What's unbelievable is that some of Seattle's own sports writers are advocating a trade of Ichiro. All great examples of writers submitting an article because there is nothing else to talk about.

They have nothing else to write about, and if it ever does happen, they can point to their articles and crow about how they knew it all along...

As an Orioles fan I can tell you from watching a lot of Bedard that he is going to bounce back. The guy is too talented not too. When the trade was made I didn't like it at first, but then when I saw who the O's were getting back I felt that it was a good deal for both teams. Bedard never got a whole lot of hype in Baltimore until the end when he was already comfortable with the team and everything else. Once he gets settled he will be fine, and don't worry about Jones, he has stud written all over him
