Trading Block, Lost Players, Draft AI, Free Agent Signing

Well I have found the following bugs and critiques

    1) When trading players the computer doesn't automatically erase the players from the trading box after a trade, instead it takes the next player in line and adds them to the trade box.

    2) I have randomly lost players, only to become free agents when I have not released them, ie Corey Dillon became a free agent week 13 in my 1st season, and I couldn't re sign him until the end of the season.

    3) The computer doesn't use any logic when drafting for the computer as far as I have seen. I have drafted an All-Pro caliber rookie in the 4th round.

    4) Inability to sign free agents after trading deadline.

    Thanks, hope this helps.

There is some weighting by position. What positions are you finding to be the most underdrafted?

    Thanks,

Here's what I found in my 1st draft

In the 2nd Round I drafted an awesome Offensive Tackle that was by far better than any other OL in the draft, including many starters in the league. And he was the 3rd OL taken.

In the 4th round I drafted an RB that was better than Corey Dillon, and Corey is one heck of a RB. And other RB's were taken that were not as good as him.

In the 1st round I saw players drafted before my #8 overall pick that would be 3rd or 4th round picks. An Safety with a Run defense of 53/Pass rush 47/ Pass COverage 47/ Durability 73. Now he might become a good player, but an top 8 pick? Not sure of that one.

    Thanks

BTW i love the game and am just not complaining.

Rookie drafting value seems a bit skewed.

OLine men were heavily valued according to the list by value feature but I was able to sign them for bargain basement salaries compared to LB's and DLinemen who were much farther down on the rookie list.

Well I just lost another player randomly

Year 1 week 2 Corey Dillon became a Free Agent for no reason, I'm the Bengals

Year 2 Week 4 My starting QB, can't remember his name as I have a new starter, became a free agent for no apparent reason.

    Can you look into this?

    Thanks

here we go again. week 7 this time, season 3. lost my starting guard. went to look at the defense to see if i picked up a guy but the starting lineup looked like the bench. the list of all my defensive players started in my starting lineup. so all my DEs and DTs were listed as starters along with about 2 LBs. then on my bench it had the rest of my players. kinda weird.

    Partial Solution

I have a solution that works.

The problem is that the computer signs and releases players when players get injured. If you have a spare guy on staff, this guy meets the roster requirements. This pretty much solves the problem. Unless you have two injuries to the same position at the same time.

FYI - Minimum roster requirements. The number in brackets is the number of "spares" needed to avoid the computer GM. The # of spares is listed because the game lists starters in the top screen and the "spares" (backup guys) on another.

    QB - 2 [2 Spares suggested]
    RB - 4 [3]
    TE - 4 [4 (!)]
    WR - 4 [3]
    OT - 4 [3]
    G - 4 [3]
    C - 2 [2]

That's 24 for a minimum offensive roster, and 31 with my suggestion.

    DE 4 [3]
    DT 4 [3]
LB 6 [4, same as Tight end...]
    CB 4 [3]
    S 4 [3]

This is 22 for a minimum defensive roster, and 27 with my suggestion

    K 1 [1]
    P 1 [0 - Kicker can act as punter in a pinch]

So that is 2 kickers, 3 with my suggestion.

So the minimum roster with my suggestion would be 61! (31 offense, 27 defense, 3 kickers). That's a lot, especially considering:

#1 cash management is very important in this game. You want to minimize staff and expenses
#2 In NFL, there is a roster limit of 53 (excluding the Injured Reserve). Of those 53, 7 are on the INACTIVE list and cannot play on game day. The players on this list are generally either injured or weaker players who fill in when other players are injured.
