I just wish the Yankees would get Teixeira. I wanted them to pick him up last year, but for some reason they had no interest.

    Where would they play him?
You insist that there is something a machine cannot do. If you will tell me precisely what it is that a machine cannot do, then I can always make a machine which will do just that! -J. von Neumann

Who you gonna sit?? Giambi and Damon have been carrying the Yanks...if Damon comes back damaged goods..ok... if not are you going to sit Abreau? Posada? Is he too hurt to play catcher anymore?

Why would the Yankees need Texiera? Another hitter isn't going to improve the lack of decent starting pitching needed to win that division.

Plus Cashman and Hank's new regime of keeping the boys in the farm would never let that happen.

Trading for Holliday is definitely relevant now.

Bigger effects for the Yankees : Jeter putting up a great year, A-Rod coming back from injury sooner than expected, Cano putting in a great year and the rotation being much better than it was last year.

    Re: Holliday to the Mets?

The discussion was regarding acquiring Teixeira mid-2008 in a trade. It very likely would not have put the Yankees in the playoffs and would've cost players and not just dollars, and they had a decent first basemen already in Giambi. As a free agent pick up after the season, with a gigantic hole at first base, it's an entirely different story. Nobody was wrong about Teixeira in this thread.
