Santana is a lefty. He isn't who I was talking about. Surely you remember the Victor Zambrano debacle?

    A) Cowbellman may be our best prospect right now. So What would we possibly be able to give to pull this off ?

    B) @TNP re Santana - What would the Mets record be in games Santana has started IF we didnt have him, but instead still had Nelson Figueroa ? Or Brian Lawrence or Armas Jr in there ? please...people can talk about the record people can talk about the HR. i think of it this way, aint his fault bullpen was horrible, team didnt score...HR ? if he was giving up an avg of ZERO instead of around 1 HR a game, his era would be well under 2 , a tad insane doncha think ? ...and considering the Mets have given him terrible run support , would that really have changed his w-l that much ? prolly not. Maine, Pelf are still young and questionable. Santana is "Proven".
pedro ? neary done. fork waiting. and oh yeah were lookin fer El Duque to make a big comeback , again, at age 93 or whatever
    no santana = no chance.

    C) Kazmir for Zambrano. low blow !
Thats up there with Melvin Mora for "rent a shortstop" Mike Bordick, as far as "mets worst moves of the decade" go.

    D) terrible start just about everyone stunk it up for the first 6 weeks, injuries abound, manager fired
    and yet
.5 game back ... 9 in a row. firing on all cylinders for the 1st time ?
we'll see, but the team is playing with alot more "fire" under Manuel - win or lose.

Ugh, I'd hate to see that. Not that Holliday isn't an excellent player, but look at his home/road splits. He benefits immensely from Coors Field, even more so than most do. On top of that, we'd almost certainly have to sacrifice Fernando Martinez and maybe another good player like Jon Niese. I think, so long as Church comes back, the Mets would be OK with some combination of Tatis (who can still hit close to a league average OF) and Endy Chavez (who can't really hit, but might be the best defensive OF in the game right now...seriously).

LOL. Cowbellman is probably my favorite attraction at Shea besides the game itself.

There's no way you're getting Holliday. The Rockies still think they have a chance in that God-awful division. You're better off with Bay. I don't trust Nady, I think he's having a fluke type of year so I wouldn't invest too much in him. The Mets would actually be better off getting Teixeira and benching Delgado.

Delgado isn't nearly at the point that he needs to be benched. He isn't the old Delgado, but he's still contributing.

You also have to remember, though, that his road splits contain a huge portion of games in the extremely pitcher friendly San Diego and San Francisco parks.

His "true ability" lies somewhere between his home and road splits. He's a career .364/.427/.659 hitter at home and .277/.341/.449 away. I'd guess that he's probably a .300/.360/.500 hitter in a neutral environment, which is a great upgrade on what the Mets are running out there in the corners...

An upgrade, yes. Worth giving up Fernando Martinez over...I'm not so sure.

I'd like to think so, because Holliday is proven, while Martinez isn't proven one bit.
