That's exactly what I was saying. I was not making any judgments about the NPB itself. The NPB is a lesser quality league than the MLB in the same way that AA is a lesser quality league than AAA.

Again, this is entirely dependent on what you're defining as "league quality." When I said that the quality of the NPB is less than the MLB, I'm talking in terms of overall talent level, in the same way that the MLB is a higher quality league than AAA. If you think that AAA has a lower talent level than AA, than you also think that AAA is a lesser quality league, if you're discussing "league quality" in the sense of "talent level", which is what I've been doing.
Either way, you understand the point, I hope, because this semantic argument is a little ridiculous. When I say that the quality of the NPB is less than that of the MLB, it's the same as if I said that the quality of the Gulf Coast League (a short-season rookie league) is less than that of AA or whatever, because I'm speaking in terms of "quality = talent."

Bottom line is that no one can honestly think that Rhodes would have even come close to those sorts of numbers in MLB. Ichiro is far more talented than Rhodes could ever dream to be. Also don't you think there was a reason that no one was begging him to come back to the states?
Anyhow, Ichiro would have a ton of hits if he had been in MLB the whole time. I don't think there is any way that we can accurately project how many hits, but I would certainly say over 3,000. The way that he approaches hitting would have made him effective at any level of baseball.
